E+ seats remaining message on seatmap
Notice a new(?) message on seatmaps.
X E+ Seats remaining, Y E+ aisle seats remaining More to push the sales of E+? Don't see this during booking (presently), saw it while reviewing a previously booked itin (BUT GONE NOW) ????? |
It's part of the suite of seatmap enhancements they're testing, like the best E+ seat indicator. For now, they're all sporadic.

It's is because many the elites that used to occupy those seats have moved on to OAL's. I have noticed on many of my recent flight, esp. this year, that E- is packed and E+ with perhaps a handful and exit row(s) empty leading me to believe the handful are Silvers and buy in's.

More like people that don't pick a seat when they book and since they check in last get the "See Agent" message on their boarding pass to which the GA has to assign them a E+ seat because the passenger didn't want to pay for it. Real fair system.

How would you rather it be done?

Circling back to zoegksf's point, why would so many E+ seats be vacant to begin with? :-:
But every market has a different makeup of elites vs non-elites, and planes have a one-size-fits-all E+ to E- ratio. It's in the nature of the beast that some flights will require E+ filing at the gate. UA's goal is to fill seats in the way that best maximizes total revenue. |
