[Consolidated] United Express (UX) route cuts [2014 & onward]

According to the following thread, last flights are in September 2014.

UAX to cut PDX-SEA/LAX/EUG/RDM [Sept 2014]

http://www.airliners.net/aviation-fo....main/6083080/

sure hope it isn't true.

NOOOOOOOooooooooooo....

According to ramprat74:

PDX – EUG – last day of operation will be Sep 1st
PDX – SEA – last day of operation will be Sep 1st
PDX – RDM – last day of operation will be Sept 1st
PDX – LAX – last day of operation will be Sep. 19th

With DL launching SEA - PDX using CR9s with an F cabin this isn't really all that surprising. I know we on the sCO side have had a few FA trip pairings where we would fly EWR - SEA layover then have to deadhead on the EMB-120 to PDX to work a PDX - EWR flight. I've never worked that trip but the ones who have said they don't much care for it and would always try to get rid of it.

United doesn't want to compete. They are running away from the competition with their tails between their legs. Fire all of upper management and bring in someone who knows how to run an airline.

Part of the revenue and profit gain at DL/AA is due to UA management's incompetence.

PDX-EUG was a silly flight anyways. PDX-RDM made a tiny bit more sense.

I don't understand the PDX-SEA logic, but I imagine AS was killing them there.

PDX-LAX loss is just dumb. Who wants to go PDX-SFO-LAX?

UA-NYC May 22, 2014 5:48 pm

So much for the post merger PDX renaissance

The non hub routes I get - but LAX? Pathetic.

FlyerTom111 May 22, 2014 5:51 pm

Yes. LAX to PDX should be a full sized plane and not UX anyway.

kevanyalowitz May 22, 2014 6:16 pm

United sure isn't "SEA Friendly"

zoegksf May 22, 2014 6:19 pm

Wow, cutting all sUA west coast stuff. The West Coast WAS sUA's bread and butter

frankmu May 22, 2014 6:34 pm

I guess they are retiring the EMB-120's, so no small planes for those segments.

Don't understand dropping PDX-LAX either.

I hope they will give me plenty of advanced warning if they drop our little town, so I can status match with AS.

CO_Nonrev_elite May 22, 2014 6:36 pm

It's not that they don't want to compete, it is that they can't compete. Their product is inferior and getting worse. They keep running from markets saying there is no demand, but there is just no demand for them, the others make do just fine.

mherdeg May 22, 2014 6:37 pm

Whoa, dropping PDX-SEA?!

Dieuwer May 22, 2014 6:37 pm

Cutting those flights probably makes for a quick buck so Jeff can show what a great Q2 they had and give himself a fat bonus.
Of course, in the long run it will all turn out to be bad, but Jeff doesn't care. He will retire beforehand with another fat bonus.

The apologists will be here in a moment to say UA can't compete everywhere at once and has to pick its battles, and drawing down PDX is just good business. But it looks more and more like UA can't compete anywhere it has a credible opponent. This is just the latest case of cut-and-run.

Well, the cuts don't implement until the end of Q3 so this is not a quick buck, it's a slow fade... part of the slow fade of the whole airline.

skywest

These are skywest at risk flying. As E120's are being dropped with no replacement. This has been planned for many years. This is sure not any important markets with 29 seat flights.
