PlanetAmex/Cook for UA Tickets

I've searched the forum for experience others may have had with PlanetAmex, but all the threads that came up are quite old. Anyone have any recent experience to share. I'm considering them for business class tickets from Sydney to Los Angeles.

If you are seeking status find out if these are consolidator / BULK tickets (good chance they are) -- if so they will not earn PQDs needed for status. They also may or may not earn RDMs/PQMs (you need to ask fortunately the not is less likely).

Thanks ... Yes, they are consolidators; I'm more concerned about their legitimacy. The reservation they made is showing up in UA now, so at least that much seems to be good.

Are you confident that they are consolidators and not brokers? You don't want to risk trying to travel on award tickets bought with miles that some stranger has sold.

Personally, I consider the AmEx and Cook in this outfit's name to be red flags.

I have used Planetamex for ten years. They were an American Express Rep which is why they can use that name. I have always gotten miles. They tell me they work with upgrades and net fares.

For a last minute ticket to London which the airline was charging more than $6,000, Cook Planetamex got it for me for $3,500... They don't have any domestic deals.
