Gifts when flying the 787

I've flown UA's 787 three times now, first on the MegaDo3 and twice now between NRT and DEN. Earlier this week on my third flight, everyone -- business and economy -- received a deck of playing cards with the 787 on the backside. Those in business also received a leather passport holder (also commemorating the 787). Has this become a standard "amenity" on 787 flights with UA?

Gifts when flying the 787

I received the playing cards in February on the DEN-NRT route. Kept them for the kids.

Not standard IME. I've received one deck of cards and one passport wallet, both in J, out of 6-8 segments on 787.

There's always the safety cards.

The second UA 787 flight (domestic) took a delay because so many people took the safety cards on the inbound, and they had to locate more.

I have flown twice and not gotten anything. I think it is more like random.

oh how i wish...

When I flew the 787 PVG-LAX in J late last year, all I got was a lot of lime wedges.

In retrospect I'd take the limes over playing cards any day.

I think I'd prefer better meals and service than a passport holder (I have one of my own that I am sure is far better quality).

I've got two 787 legs next month (SFO-IAH and IAH-LHR). Commemorative cards or passport holder would be neat!

I have a large sample size of exactly 1 flight (NRT-DEN).

I received exactly nothing extra.

However, I got great service (ex CO crew), plenty of enjoyable wine, a good night's sleep, and a safe flight.

I was pleased.

I've flown the UA DEN-NRT 787 service three times since September in coach. I got decks of cards every time. I have not seen it on UA NRT-DEN or NH SJC-NRT (like NH is going to advertise for UA?). First couple times the decks of cards were kind of novel since I haven't seen any airline distribute poker cards in maybe two decades. I had to look twice to make sure they weren't complimentary cigarettes--that I haven't seen in a while! By the third flight, the novelty wore off with a small pile of unopened decks growing at home. I think I brought the unopened ones back and left them in the plane this last time.

How about the nifty UA logo packaged chopsticks and toothpicks?
