No reimbursement on OS

My wife and I got back from Budapest and Vienna about a month ago. We flew 4 segments:

IAH-> FRA on UA
FRA-> BUD on LH
VIE-> ORD on OS
ORD-> IAH on UA

After we got back we realized that we didn't get mileage credit for the Austrian leg. We waited a couple of weeks and it didn't show up so we filed for the credit reimbursement. Another couple of weeks go by and still no credit. She finally called today and the customer service rep told her we didn't get credit because the OS leg was fare code K. Apparently that doesn't get mileage on Austrian per:

Anyone ever dealt with this? My wife's family flies all over the world on Star Alliance and none of them have ever been denied credit. I've typically flown One World in the past, but can't remember not getting mileage. Can I make a fuss to get credit?

The fare class doesn't receive credit on OS flights so I don't know what grounds you are going to fight them to issue you the miles.

It doesn't matter whether other carriers have given credit for other fare bases. OS doesn't give K-fare credit so you don't get credit. There is nothing you can do as the awards schedule is clearly posted and linked on UA's website.

Lots of OW carriers have non-earning rates on their partners. So does SkyTeam. This is not unique.

You can make a fuss but it would be for naught. You bought a fare which doesn't earn points.

To be fair, the UA web site is only clear if you go and look for it. When you make the booking (on UA), it won't show if your segment will earn credit properly.

I would be annoyed if I were the OP as well.

That said, raising a fuss won't result in earning the miles.

Many EU airlines have very bad Mileage Accrual Chart. LH, OS, SK... it's hard to find 100% rate economy ticket for them. Asian airlines such as OZ, SQ, they are OK.

Thanks for the input.

I messed up on this same thing in January and had to have customer service explain to me. The problem was that I saw the table on the web site and all lines showed credit... somehow I didn't see the line at the bottom that said "All other fare classes do not accrue mileage". My fault, stupid mistake.

That mistake combined with having some meetings moved to Canada and being stuck on AC for the flights (which only credit 25%) may cost me status this year so I feel for you on this one!
