UA - first in the US to buy the 737 will get the 8,000th!

Boeing’s 737 Turns 8,000: The Best-Selling Plane Ever Isn’t Slowing

Boeing’s 737 aircraft just marked an aviation first: The 8,000th model has rolled off the assembly line, a round-number milestone for the best-selling airplane of all time. Boeing (BA) will deliver the aircraft, a 737-900ER, on Wednesday to United Airlines (UAL), the buyer of the first 737 sold in the U.S.
The initial 737-100, ordered by Lufthansa (LHA:GR), was 93 feet long and 93 feet wide by wingspan, prompting engineers to dub it “the square.” The plane was designed as a complement to Boeing’s 727 model for routes of as long as 1,000 miles. United sought a 737 that was 6 feet longer, leading Boeing to build a 737-200. That design proved to be far more popular with airlines and was followed by variations that went through the 900ER, the currently the largest version of the plane.

Good job Boeing and UA! Congrats on #8,000! Perhaps UA could paint this plane in the original paint design from their first 737-200?

Couldn't agree more! Seems all I fly anymore are these damned sCO 737s with the uncomfortable F seats! I love other Boeing planes, but give me an A319/320 over a 737 any day!

Tail #821 N68821 is the 8,000th 737. And for the record this is considered an sUA 739ER as it's staffed with sUA FAs. (Pilots could be either sCO or sUA).

Funny, I will go out of my way to avoid the Arbii. I can't stand those seats and find the sCO 737 seats much more comfortable.

a lot of you worry about the seats. jeffyboi will include that in the next round of cuts.... no more seats on the plane, everyone needs to bring their own else you will be standing on your next transcon flight. strapped on the walls of course for safety reasons.

For those of us old enough to recall the "Triangle Trade" (DAL/HOU/SAT with AUS in the middle) on WN, the 737 will always be identified with once tiny WN, now spanning the continent, having out-lived a long list of once-weres. The white vinyl boots and hot pants may be hazy memories, but WN's 737s are hard to miss.

The 8,000th of the breed and those P8 clones TEMDU out of Perth suggest the a/c has a lot of decades left in it.

Yes, except the only time's my CPU hasn't cleared have been on 319 and 320's, plus I prefer the "cubby" on the 737's seats in F.

Eh? Let's stop raining on the parade (with all the airbus and slimline comments)! This is a great milestone for both companies!!

Well done Boeing and UA!
