Who are you to judge. Let the MODS do their job. "Close" this or that post. If your so worked up about it - become a moderator on this forum. I had several people reply to remove a current post I made about NEW news, just released about UA. That post has 120+ replies.
Let me say, the MODS on UA and DL do a fantastic job.
Relax and enjoy your weekend.

Hmmmm, so you noticed that too....
IMHO the history goes like this:
-CO before 2006: complementary upgrades
- CO 2006-merger: Y/B that was "instant upgrade" usually $75-100 more one way than next lowest coach
- United 2010-2012: complementary upgrades, Y/B upgrades that were instant but F/Y/B was $250+ more each way.
-UAfkaCO 3/2/12 - end 2012/early 2013: M that was "instant upgrade" and it was often at the last minute the lowest fare category, and if not was $75 to $100 more than next lowest fare (E, U or H) Y/B was considerably more.
- UAfkaCO early 2013 to day: M is considerably more on most flights than is an E, U or H (so M-upgrade costs) and running a search at the last minute gives E,U or H fares as cheapest, almost never an M, particularly on connections which return E fares. More H-up and other special FC-light fares offered.
So not only is the "benefit" must less (as fewer Ms offered, and searching for them yields much higher prices) but the FC buy up fares are more common.
Jeff thinks people who travel a lot don't notice these things, but we do...

Let me also add: sometimes P fare is cheaper than M.
Recently booked BOS-ORD-BZN. Instant M fare was $750 but P was $500.

I have found an undocumented use for my Explorer card. I keep it in hand while walking through IAH to ward off the people who want to accost me and have me sign up for the cc. It's analogous to using a crucifix to keep vampires at bay.

I can't cut mine in half, how will I board kind of early and get my free checked bag if I do?

Also, sometimes the cheapest F fare is less than the cheapest M fare, but the cheapest refundable M fare (most, but not all, M fares are refundable) is cheaper than the cheapest refundable F fare. So that's another case where there's a benefit, if you're like me and your travel plans change a lot.

Does the vessel with the pestle have the brew that is true? Or does the chalice from the palace have the pellet with the poison?
