San Francisco United Arrivals Lounge closure
Due to airport construction, the United Arrivals Lounge at San Francisco will close on December 1, 2019, at 12 p.m. If you’re traveling in United Polaris® business class on a long-haul international flight and have an eligible same-day ticket, you can visit the United Polaris lounge before departure, during connections or upon arrival. See our access policy and list of lounge locations for more information.

United Arrivals Lounge: 12 showers, decent breakfast, but only open to inbound international GlobalFirst or BusinessFirst premium passengers in the morning:

Our Arrivals Lounge in San Francisco, located in Terminal 3 on the baggage level, is a retreat where United Polaris first and business class customers arriving by noon on a same-day ticket may freshen up with a shower. Guests can enjoy breakfast and use our complimentary Wi-Fi.
Customers may not bring guests into the arrivals lounge/

It's quicker if you take the "connections" exit from customs, but either way works.

And just to be clear, all the comments about the UA Arrivals lounge are completely irrelevant to OP's question, since OP is arriving in Y on a domestic flight.

Slight revision to my original question:

I have a same day return flight departing later that evening for JFK, for which I'll have a boarding pass in hand by the time I land. Given this, are there any departure lounges with shower facilities I can access as a *G?

Thanks!

You may be able to get into the Singapore Silver Kris lounge in the international terminal (connected airside to United domestic), however it doesn't open until 10:30am.

Full thread on it here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unite...mestic-24.html

Otherwise no other *G lounges have showers except for Arrivals by United (as already mentioned) and the United Global First lounge - neither of which are an option.

Everything's been said already, but the following reviews and details may help.

United Arrivals Lounge: 12 showers, decent breakfast, but open to inbound international premium passengers only in the morning:

No.

The only shower open to the most passengers is at the Amex Centurion Lounge, and it's not for Star Golds but Amex cardholders. You won't be admitted into any of the airline facilities.

And I've added the paid Freshen Up facility, since that's the only one that OP can actually access (unless he has an AMEX card).

This really should be in the UA Forum, but Business Class passengers do get access to the Arrivals Lounge.
