Has anyone used it at BRU recently? Is it just a short-term room at the Sheraton?
Thanks for posting.

For those interested in obtaining the service, note that you must request it prior to leaving the originating airport.

So I tried this about a week ago, asking one of the dragons at an IAD UA Club. She had no idea what I was talking about, even after I showed her the web page listing the various arrivals facilities including the one at Brussels.

Note that if you are arriving at London's Terminal 1, you do not have to pre-arrange anything to use the Star Alliance Arrivals Lounge. Just go upstairs when you arrive, and show your boarding pass. This is a nice, small lounge with food and showers. Last week they even cooked me a breakfast to order.

Here are the plans for the new lounges in Terminal 2 - to open next month - sounds nice!:

It is smart to do so many of the facilities do not strictly require it. Speak with a "grey coat" agent at departure or upon arrival. At departure there is generally one in the lounge and another at the gate for boarding. Upon arrival there is typically one meeting the arriving flight and another working as a supervisor at the check-in counter.

Yes, for normal airport lounges / arrivals lounges, I am sure you do not need to pre-arrange access.

The note is more geared toward alternate arrangement places...hotels and the like.

Of course, based on the report upthread, doesn't sound like United is implementing this too well. I am shocked.

Pathetic -- so easy to include in flight docs for FAs with arrival terminal information, etc.

Can those who will arrive @BRU in the coming weeks please report back on their experiences, and provide any lessons learned from the snafu they might encounter?

I will be there in August, and promise to add my report to the list.

This is helpful, thanks.

It's a fairly esoteric benefit, so I'm not surprised UC agents don't know about it.

Heck, I didn't know about it until last night

MUC

This week I was traveling to Munich. I asked the GS agent at the GF lounge in IAD about arrival facilities in MUC and was told to use Senators lounge. I told her I wasn't connecting and she repeated to head to the Senators lounge for a shower. In her defense she is partly right, but since I didn't have an onward boarding pass, I'm not sure I would have been let through security to access the lounge.

Upon arrival I saw a GS rep at the boarding door and asked for directions. He said something about 'maybe, blah blah,' I told him I'm GS and then perked up and said to head to the ticket counter in the departure zone and they'll arrange for access.

Sure enough I was given access to the showers at the gym of the adjoining Kempinski Hotel. Given the strange looks from the United and hotel staff, I don't think this is used very often in MUC.

The facility is ok. Quick shower and shave but little else.

Hmmmm. this doesn't sound too inviting.

Most hotel gyms have small day lockers, at best, since users are staying in the hotel. Where did you keep your luggage during your visit to the hotel gym? Were you able to unpack a change of clothes in the middle of the locker room?

There is no need to make prior arrangements for CDG; while there is someone meeting the flight and directing passengers who inquire, no advance arrangement is required. Then again, thanks to the few FTers who repeatedly doubted my veracity, it is probably a very well kept secret for those of us in the know...

Sounds fine to me, certainly better than no shower at all, particularly if your hotel won't let you check in until 4 p.m.

The Welcome lounge in FRA is quite nice, but remember that it is only an Arrivals lounge and is outside security - any connecting passengers can access the Business/Senator lounges inside security. They are pretty strict about not accessing the LH lounges inside security if you don't have a connection, as wpr8e noted.

But very often connecting landside makes sense. C to A for instance is easier landside, and the welcome lounge is on the way. I often do that; land at C, exit and shower, do some shopping or go to the bank or the post office or meet a friend for coffee, then head over to the far back of beyond of A.

Going from C to A airside is a very long, very boring walk. I am in the welcome lounge about 1-2 times a month on average, and have never had to wait for a shower, but at the airside lounges there is very often a wait.

If I have to leave my suitcase out in public in the middle of a health club locker room while I do my ablutions in the shower room, I'm not sure that I would be relaxed and enjoying the experience.
