United Rescheduled--no notice
I just logged into my united account to see what time I can check in tomorrow for my Sunday morning flight (want to be sure I get that free economy plus upgrade!), and my account says "your flight has been changed, please call reservations"
Of course with the weather, the reservations line has a crazy wait. My flight (DCA-EWR-MXP) has been changed to Monday, instead of Sunday, and the DCA-EWR leg has completely disappeared. I just printed my itinerary this afternoon. Has this happened to anyone else before? What can I do? |

Called the UK number and got rerouted to a wonderful agent in Salt Lake City (less than 5 minute wait).
I'm booked on a new flight. It'll be a pain to get to the airport, and I'll be in Newark for 10 hours, but we'll make our original international flight. They are canceling Sunday flights out of DCA for "weather" even though it was in the 50s today and all the snow melted and this weekend is supposed to be fine. |

They need a day to recover from two back to back Noreasters??
SQ recovers in 10 minutes...why can't they get their act together? |

I think that you need to get a new thermometer. Snowing now in the DC area and the high today and tomorrow will be 36. It's only in the 50s if you add 20 degrees to the temperature.

We've not had one cancelation notification this year for the 8-10 cancelations our group has had. Fortunately only only one was mine personally, and my flight tracker app sent me the notification, but not one word from UA on any delay or cancelation yet this year.

OP also seems to not be considering the weather at the EWR end of the flight as well... OP: realize it's a frustrating experience, but your frustration should be directed at UA not notifying of your flight changes (I've been there many times), not at the weather cancellation. |

Funny....sitting in my apartment in DC, looking at 6 inches of old snow on the ground, snow falling, and cloudy skies. Temps around 35. Wouldn't describe it as fine. Not terrible....not fine, either.

It was 50 in DC on Friday, and as for current, snow usually doesn't accumulate at temps over 32, so other than a wet runway, why all the cancellations?
UA does need to do a better job of notifying people of schedule changes. My boss took his family to Hawaii on UA last year, and a few days before he left, I asked him if he had checked his reservation since he bought it. he said no  so I suggested he check. he did, and found out his departure flight had been moved up several hours, and that his seat assignments were also changed. He never got an e-mail about it - how hard would it be for UA to do that? |
Maybe they're just being overly cautious? We got a tiny bit of snow today, but it was never forecast to be much, and projected overnight weather never materialized for most of the WAS area.

That said, it's supposed to be relatively nice going into next week. |
