NRT United Club Packed

Hadn't been in the NRT United Club in a while. The place was packed.... standing room only. Is this normal?

Every single time I'm there.

I have found it starts to empty around 4 pm, since flights to IAD, IAH, SFO etc. board around then. Normally if I'm flying through NRT, I'm going to ORD which has a departure around 6:30 pm so I will enter the lounge after 4 pm and normally it's still packed but there are a few seats that are empty.

I am there tomorrow, to take my shower, before going on to the ANA club, where the food and booze is much much much better. Alas only one leg of this trip is UAL, rest in ANA...

Exclusiveness is dead and gone!

What happened to the exclusiveness of an airline club? It's down the drain! Everyone and anything has access now. Last time I was there, I had to ask a guy to please remove his feet from a table.

Me thinks it's related to the ANA lounge renovation.

The only reason I go to the UA Club is I'm fond of the beer machine there ^

I don't recall if the ANA club has a similar machine in their lounge, they might.

I was just there on 12/20 and it was a zoo. I thought that it was just due to the pre-holiday surge in traffic to get home/away.
Not just crowded but many who had not brought their good manners with them.
Loud cell phone talking, taking (significantly) more than they could eat or drink.
Before I was ever able to access UC's I always envied those who could.
Now I sometimes just leave and go pay for a quiet space and a good meal.

Every lounge I've been to in NRT has the same beer machines.

I have been skipping the UC and just use the ANA lounge and shower. As a GS, i now get to use the First Class lounge, but still find food better at ANA lounge.

NRT United Club Packed

I hadn't been to the First lounge in 4 years and finally got to go in this last December. Like everything with this airline, the quality had dropped so far below what it once was. I moved to the ANA lounge and again patted myself on the back for my decision to leave UA three years ago. The RCC section of the lounge looked even worse from what I was able to see. Just go to ANA when in Tokyo.

Man, we passed through there on Tuesday. Every seat was taken. And they need to just give up that wifi or start charging for it or something. Useless.

My typical pattern as well, though I've recently just been skipping the UC completely and showering in ANA.

There's renovations ongoing at the 50's ANA lounge so it's not surprising UC is crowded with the overflow. Im sure the internet is completely and totally useless.

Does anyone know how long the ANA lounge renovations are going to last?
