12/15 LHR > SFO, U fare, checked in GS desk, told #9 on upgrade list (ended up#11) was told 10 GS ahead of all of us (they don't show up on the waitlist) so that makes it #21

GS don't show up on the gate wait list post check-in? Or they didn't show up because they didn't check in yet. I had not heard or noticed this before.

I haven't heard this before, it was from the GS agent at check-in desk. I thought they showed up too but perhaps it was that they hadn't checked in yet but they knew they were coming.

Died at #1 and #2 on the waitlist tonight. Nothing like sitting in the back of a 3-class 763 with no plugs and tiny video screens...

GPU Failed to Clear, #18 of 25 revenue passengers on the wait list at departure. No major IROPS noted that day or day before for SFO to Asia flights.
SFO-TPE 3/17/18
1K, W Fare, booked 120+ days

Used to be that most of my GPU's cleared or I was at least in the top 5 on the wait list, but now clearing at about 50% with GPU's and second time in the last few months that I was extremely far down the wait list (#18 this time and #28 the other time). I also chose this route as I understood it was more likely to clear than SFO-HKG.

Ouch. However thank you for posting. I fly this route a fair amount, upgrading with GPUs. I note you were flying on a Saturday. Of course when your GPU fails to clear, you are in Y on a B777-300 with 10 across seating. I can almost always find R availability on booking 1 month out, flying weekdays. And W only costs modestly more than K. I am surprised there were 25 revenue pax on upgrade list. Was Y full I wonder?

I'm aghast at this as well. SFO-TPE has always been my easy route.

I checked the flight load, Y had 8 empty seats, all middles.I'm still at a loss that a 1K was that far down the list on a GPU flight. Never have I seen that before unless it's like to SYD or SIN. That might have been more believable..but TPE?!

In other words, it is likely that when eclipse_boi's upgrade failed, his row of seats would be fully occupied.

Y was not full for this flight. There were 5 non-rev passengers on standby who cleared in Y and still open seats in Y.
