I'll miss connecting at CLE myself. In 2007 when I was CO Gold and commuting between PHX and BOS, PHX-CLE-BOS was my preferred way to do it, especially as CO had a PHX-CLE redeye that was an easy upgrade.
That said, I wonder if CLE-RDU will stick around. I doubt it.

Since I live in the Cleveland area and fly every week for work this is a bummer. Granted my current contract has me flying to LGA every Monday but previous places I've been to I assume will be connecting flights (STL).

It is an easy airport and the employees are just wonderful. Even today they didn't let the SMI/J letter damper their customer care or their attitudes.
Seen more and more since merger more Barbie Jets which suck. Used to be 5-6 flights a day, in bigger planes, and they were full. Summer especially.
Again just sucks.

so down to 20 destinations, including hubs
so that means IAH, DEN, ORD, IAD, EWR, SFO
Also mentioned LGA, DCA, BOS, FLL, MCO, TPA, RSW
That leaves only 7 other lucky cities to get service from CLE.

2B in cuts has to come from somewhere.
Sad that my friends from back home will blame this on 'United' when it is CO all over it!

I do a lot of flying EWR-CMH, half the time stopping in CLE. If this means more direct EWR-CMH (even if it's on the dash-8) that'll work for me.
The people in CLE are lovely, but honestly, it's just been a steppingstone to CMH for me for a long time.

IAH - CLE 2-3x a year as I own a summer home on Lake Erie in Sandusky. I have biz in GSP and Charleston WV which connect thru here and I do the connect for extra miles and/or long weekend in Sandusky. Can also go to Cancun or Montreal. Took a bump once in SJU that routed me thru CLE.

This was nothing unexpected. RJ hubs in mid-sized markets just don't work anymore. We've seen it time an time again.

In CLE right now, employees speaking softly about it. I overheard a bit, asked what was going on. They did not want to discuss with a non-airline employee. This shows true professionalism.
As someone who flies thru CLE 6-8 times a year I hate to hear this. The employees are truly outstanding and have worked hard and been bright spots for many years.
The decrease in flights has already taken its' toll on packed flights and very high fares. I really hate to hear this is happening in CLE. Tho old thread pops to mind "doesn't look good for CLE" seems to be a forecast of things to come.
Dangit.

But for those of us that are primarily leisure travel doing transcons or international we've been connecting for a while now and maybe there will be a bit of competition coming in now to give us some cost control.
