[Targeted] -- For you: Complimentary upgrades and 20,000 Premier qualifying miles

  • Offer apparently targeted at UA elites who flew US last year and credited miles to MileagePlus (possibly targeted only at those who bought premium tickets on US and credited to MP). You can only register for a promotion for which you were targeted, so this will only help if you were targeted but for some reason didn't get or lost the email.
  • No offer for people whose primary address is non-US
  • 4 RPU + 4 UC passes

  • Some 1Ks get 4 RPUs + 20K PQM
    http://news.united.com/servlet/formlink/f?JHQSTCTY
  • Some 1Ks get 4 RPUs only, no PQM

  • Platinums get instant upgrade to 1K till 05/31 with 35K miles challenge for entire 2014 (+4RPU)

  • Golds get instant upgrade to Platinum till 05/31 with 18K miles challenge for entire 2014 (+2RPU)

  • Slivers get instant upgrade to Gold till 05/31 with 12.5K miles challenge for entire 2014 (+15,000 bonus award miles also)

PS: You did well on your 2013 upgrades - based on your stats
I'm not saying it's not legit, but in the 2.5 years I've been flying with United I have not received any positive marketing promos. I know they used to exist (2xPQM, etc.), but I just haven't seen them since the merger.

At this point, with many people getting this, I believe it's a legit promo. I haven't gotten the email myself (but really hope to soon!). I don't have any paid trips on United flown or booked so far this year...

It seems as though UA is simply giving everyone a status match challenge. The numbers are the same as the ones used for those challenges, except normally those don't come with the free upgrades.

True...but because of the merger at least 17 nonstop US cities will be cut.

DCA will go from being a mini US hub to basically being a spoke in the new US dba AA Frankenstein's monster. With a few regional nonstops thrown in.

This is something I am already pissed about. Mergers suck.

It would be helpful if someone who received this offer shared their recent UA flying history (or lack thereof).

Still nothing here either. I cant believe they're actually giving away 1K to Plats thru May 31 2014.

How I wish I wasn't a DEN based flyer some days.

I would take the 20k PQMs... With my flights generally being in the 15 cpm region, they would help. Wouldn't get me all the way there, but I also wouldn't need an extra $2k spend either.

Ah I forgot about the DOJ slot issues. Mergers really do suck. I think we're only seeing the start of the carnage for customers.

I sure would love the 4 RPU but I am never targeted for these offers. I am also surprised that the HouCrew is being so generous...

Okay that's what I needed. I've been elite long enough to know that when Continental would advertise "enhancements" I should always prepare to bend over. The term has a bit of a weird phrasing and doesn't make sense, but I wondered what the reaction would be with the "experts" to trust it or not. So your post was pretty darn helpful. Thanks and I'm taking off my tin foil hat now!

Interesting, I only flew a couple of segments on UAL in 2013 but a ton on AA and apparently off UAL's email list since I don't receive them anymore. As a 3MM with UAL, you'd think they might want my money back but that is too much too ask for $misek to think that far beyond stockholders and focus on customers.

Here I was waiting for Feb 1 to roll around and hopefully the ranks of 1Ks thinning a bit and they pull this stunt. Conventional wisdom would indicate that there are a higher number of elites in each group as you move from GS->1K->PLAT->GOLD. So what does this mean to UG rates due to unearned RPUs, check-in lines, boarding lanes etc when you take a lower tier group, offer them 3 months of the next higher status and thereby potentially double (?) the size of "new" group? I think the next 90 days might be an absolute train wreck.

I fit this profile well... Past two years I was buying many cheap First tickets on US and I am DCA/IAD based - looks like its an attempt to keep elites from jumping to US/AA who they know have nibbled in the past on those top airfares.
