Almost no chance--we've just had rain for 24 hours and the then temps kept dropping. Should be above freezing after about noon and stay that way. Getting out might still have delays, but they did buy another couple of deicing trucks after something similar happened a few years back and Hobby (smaller and closer to the coast=warmer) only had 1 or 2 which led to a complete meltdown of operations.

I think most people think it is just a typo and no way IAH would get ice.

Yes--and the last 80 minutes have improved significantly. From 40 floors up, traffic on elevated roads is moving with just a handful of ramps and such closed still. Surface streets were clear at 10am but people coming from icy ramps were driving them at 20mph and soft multilane turns. By evening should be good--high is supposed to be near 40F.

WOW!

Had a MR booked back in June for this morning from LAS to LGA via IAH.

Something came up (namely my wife complaining), so I cancelled and checked what my penalty was going to be --- $200.00 change fee!

About an hour ago I just happened, for the heck of it, to check if there was perhaps a weather waiver extended for the east coast, and I screwed up by cancelling last night.

What the hey? No weather waiver for the east coast, but whatta-no, bingo weather waiver for IAH (Ice Storms). Plugged in my old itin # and re-booked later in the year for a minimal increase in fare and NO CHANGE FEE.

A savings of $200.00 granted by the "Weather Gods"!!!

Just goes to show, "Ya Never Can Tell"!!!

My Canada-IAH on UAX (upgraded with RPU) was cancelled... took a 30 minute phone call to get rebooked on Air Canada 1.5h later instead of UAX (only coach available) 4h later. On the upside they booked me in C on AC and returned the RPU.

I wonder how much use that old landside train got today...I had never even known it existed until I had some irrops fun there in that big fire/smoke incident at IAH in early December.

Crazy that IAH is connected via train on both sides of security.

I love that odd little landslide train. I call it "the little engine that could".
