Crew rest delay
I've been waiting about two hours for a late United Express flight and now they've announced an additional delay because the crew requested "crew rest." I know there are rules on rest required, but I've never seen one requested by the crew. Perhaps the GA is wrong, but not experienced this one before.

It's possible that the crew had a tough flight and feels the need to rest even though they're within limits. I don't think I'm alone in always wanting a well-rested crew. The NTSB files are full of accidents where fatigue was at least a contributing factor.

Somehow I get the feeling that the UAX announcement (announcer) read the code wrong - they probably saw something like "crew rest required" but read it as requested (RQD maybe?) or they simply don't know what they are reading ? Odd. |

since we don't know a lot of the particulars of your flight im going to assume that its getting close to a full day for the crew of your flight to continue on...with out a crew break....I have been on a few flights in north America where the crew got off at ohare, atlanta and dallas and proceeded to take a crew break(meal) later in the day I can see this versus a full out crew rest which to me means a 8hr layover, I hope its a crew break for your sake.

That was my thought too but he repeated it again. I do want a focused crew of course, I've just never heard this before.
