At Newark? I have had the pleasure of the Mercedes service at IAH several times. I am usually originating or ending at EWR so I will likely never benefit from the service there...

New GS Reception & Security Lanes at EWR?

I went through the new GS reception and security line at EWR for the first time this morning. Nice reception area staffed by 3 agents. However no pre check line and you don't know this until you are already into the security line. Also, only one line open that also has pax merging from a families with children line coming from the other side. This was at 11 am today. Would have been faster to go into the regular pre line, and that is what I plan to do in the future when traveling through EWR. The United employee who was in line behind me said they are supposed to tell you if the pre check line is closed, but that didn't happen.

Ive always thought this was weird ...why walk all the way around to the GS area when the Precheck line is there, open and ready to go?

Maybe its important for some to be seen in the GS line...Meh...

I agree. If the precheck line is faster why would you go all the way around just to be in a slower line. (Maybe if you are checking bags and the regular baggage lines out front are crowded, this would make it worth the effort.) If you are going to do a special GS line then do it right -- I'm sure nearly all GS are pre check.

Faux-Pre again yesterday at around 4pm with a HUGE group of people let in through the group lanes. The rest of the airport was a zoo so I didn't bother to check the regular Pre lanes, but I'm guessing they would've been faster.

I'll probably give this one more shot and then go back to using C3

I went through the EWR GS lane last week and I asked the TSA agent checking IDs if the PreCheck lane was gone for good to which he replied "I don't know why we even have this entrance at all. It's a waste of manpower." Not sure what to make of his gripe except it isn't working for TSA and not really working for me either w/o PreCheck. Hope UA can get this remedied.

I used the GS line at EWR this past Sunday at 12:30 PM. It took about 5 minutes to get from the curb to the UC check-in desk. Brilliant! Now if they could just get one of these lanes open at IAH....

I was told by a TSA agent there that they will open up a full pre line where the GS exit is.

For me until they open it, this GS check in is not very useful. I now go in GS, check in, then go out the entrance and get in the regular pre line. Saves time.

Mercedes GL350 connection

As a lowly 1K, it was the first time to be escorted through the GL350 from Terminal C to A in EWR. Happened last Sunday. Gave the BP to the people in suits. Was told to hold on. Turned out it was a Mercedes connecting me between the terminals. Pleasantly surprised! ^

I am not a GS, but I will assume this will be a standard service to all GSs. Anybody had similar experience?

I am assuming you were transferring. Did they have your name at the end of the jet bridge? Flying GF? (People flying GF get GS treatment)

Nope, not GF. That's why I was very surprised!
