Just keep in mind that points are not the same as miles. We had a poster on the AA forum a few months back that flew 25,000 miles, thinking they were the same as points, and did not meet the terms of the match. As an example, it takes 50,000 miles of flying on deep discount economy fares to earn 25,000 points.
AA qualification requirements

Some of the past status matches have been miles or points.

I should have been clearer, by "targeted" I meant overall intention of the campaign, not specific customers (although I believe AA did contact some 1Ks directly).

Of course, you're the one that thought UA made a smart move going with Shares (so-who-cio-now)

Apollo was on it's way out regardless if UA went with Shares. CO owned the source code and therefore had the potential for building additional features/functions which were likely difficult and/or expensive in any viable alternative RES system. While it hasn't been an easy transition, I still think it was the correct decision.

By and large I think Shares has settled in. We'll never know if keeping with Apollo would have been a better decision but now the the sUA folks seem comfortable with the changes, things are improving.

But thanks for throwing us off topic.

How did AA define "eligible" business class ticket?

Hmm, could COUA not have datamined the CO frequent flier database from the days when CO partnered with DL & NW and approached DL fliers the same way?
A(nother) missed opportunity?

AA did not get this information from US (or if they are, it is new).

I got the offer before the AA/US merger closed and I haven't flown US since 2007.

Maybe it came from a credit card company, or even a list that came from companies that provide credit ratings. Could AA have bought a list from one of them with certain parameters (income, location, spending patterns like airline ticket purchases)?

The normal challenge doesn't grant you status until you fulfill the requirements though does it not?

I am sick and tired of putting up with all the <garbage> from United over the past couple of years.

GOOD BYE UA
I wished I got a easy offer like this!

Ever since I turned EXP, AA hasn't sent me any promotion whatsoever  ...

I called the Advantage Customer Service and they transferred me to the challenge desk total wait time was about 20 minutes on a Friday night.

Only thing strange is that they will NOT count US Airways flights towards challenge!!!

Has anyone who responded to this for the Gold promotion got the 10 500 mile upgrades deposited yet? To the best of my ability I have looked but can't find them under upgrades. Booked a trip on AA because of this for next week and would like to try to use them.
