To the contrary, codbaua now routinely holds back f seat upgrades and tries to sell them and only grants the elite upgrades at the last minute. So the chance of buying an upgrade is very good almost aa the time. If seats are available you don't get an offer just re check on a couple of times.

What route: LHR-EWR
Original fare bucket: K
Price offered: USD2165 to BusinessFirst, or USD4256 to GlobalFirst
(It was two separate offers on two different occasions)
PCU/UFC? PCU
Where it was offered/accepted: Online
Accept it or deny it? Deny
Questions - the extra UK APD - are these prices above inclusive of the additional UK APD, which is another 69 pound?

H fare, Gold
$59 at Checkin

However, as I was attempting to change my seat in E+, the request errored out, and when the seatmap refreshed, my CPU cleared!

Route: SNA-SFO-SNA
Bucket: Q/N
Price: $665
Type: PCU
Where: Online after booking
And here's the ironic thing. Original ticket cost is ~260. You can flat out buy an A fare on the exact same flights right now for $536.....
Accept?: NO

ORD EWR - $79 at OLCI.
I took it, but it's insulting to be Gold and having them offer this. $79 is the highest I'd go. It was a 757 with layflat seats, and dinner - which was lunch even though it's 4pm and says dinner.
Was worth it, outstanding crew.

LAX-NRT
K to BF: $6089
Respectfully passed (i.e., I cleaned up my diet coke when I spit on my screen...)
I guess it is a bargain compared to the $8028 they wanted for a paid seat (although not such a great deal compared to the $2394 NH wanted for one of their seats leaving at the same time).
I did think it was fascinating that they said there were 3 seats available and 63 people eligible for an upgrade. I assume that's reflecting the number of people with at least 30K miles in there account - there can't possibly be 63 1K's on fares eligible for a GPU...
[edited to add that it was also interesting to see the load in C go from 16 when OLCI opened to 33]

What route: SIN-NRT-EWR
Original fare bucket: W
Price offered: USD1479 to BusinessFirst on the EWR-NRT leg and $3000+ for SIN-NRT
PCU/UFC? PCU
Where it was offered/accepted: Online/App
Accept it or deny it? Deny --although I was tempted. I had a GPU and ended up being 10 on the list. I'm sure I don't have to inform you of the outcome of that
Saved $1479 and ended up in 16L with plenty of legroom and decent meal out of NRT anyway.

Miles posted from this as Z fare with the bonus. Interesting as I thought only PFC receive the class-of-service bonus.
