This is a curious thread. The OP actually said meals. With an 's'. Do we think maybe he thinks Canada is a lot farther than it is?

You can at least get a CPU on the E170 they run on that route sometimes. I've spent too much time on the E145.

Oddly enough, of all the times I've flow out of YUL I've never grabbed a poutine... Not even sure where to get a good one, airside?

Right. I often choose a 2-class bird over a single-class RJ - just in case I get lucky and score the upgrade.

Why? Because the OP's cabin provides access to the transborder MLL. Which means that before leaving for the gate, one can have a few self-served, on tap Guiness. By my book, it accounts as a "meal"... :-) That MLL also offers various hot & cold snacks (depending on the time of the day) plus wine and hard liquors.

So the OP could eat/drink there, keeping in mind that nothing very fancy might be served at that time of the day. Still better than anything offered onboard an RJ, IMHO.

There's nothing wrong with the odor of a poutine in a plane (although admittedly, it depends on your kind of poutine; one made with blue or munster cheese might be debatable).

Letting what may originally have been great fries sit in sauce for more than a few minutes is, however, almost considered as a criminal offense...

1/3 UA6352 SFO-TUS, 7:34 pm departure on a SkyWest CR7.
751 miles: pretzels, one round of drinks.

1/15 UA3541 DEN-PIT, 6:09 pm departure on a Shuttle America E70.
1290 miles: no food at all, be it pretzels or snack boxes or anything else. As much booze as anybody wanted, though, served by a perfectly friendly FA.

I thought the rule on UX was snack boxes on flights longer than 700 miles, but I'm zero for two so far this year in that regard.

Had the worst meal ever on UA tonight YEG - DEN marked Dinner. No PBD no hot towel, no cookie. Chicken Wrap with salad and two shrimp, wrap had literally three tiny pieces of chicken, rest was flour. There was no meal choice. Is this typical on a dinner flight? Always thought there was a choice.....

As you can see, I ate the salad and lemon wedge lol..

EWR to YUL, YOW, and YYZ are true up and down flights no time for snack service or meal. I would say a good percentage of the flights spend more time on the ground waiting to take off from EWR than actually in the air.

Snack Box Surprise on UX today

A rare UA/UX compliment... on a UX CR7 today in F, the 2 FA's worked together to "prepare" the snack box before serving; pulling back the lid and presenting each item in the box upright, with the cardboard lid half folded back... doesn't seem like much but compared to being tossed a box it was really nice to see the UX in-flight crew taking pride in their work. A rare treat.
