Really quick question...

Looking for a flight to HNL. Found one with saver available for the dates I want. There are better routings but no saver yet... If I pull the trigger on the one available now and one of the better routings pops up later, can I switch as long as its all united metal? Im sure there is a fee but I don't want to miss out on at least making sure I have a booking.

Thanks.

Yes, and actually you can change without a fee if something better opens up.

thanks for the quick reply... I assume I just call...? Do you know if the new mile requirement change would go into effect or will they honor the rate I paid?

Yes you just call. As for the second part of your question I don't know. I would expect them to want the higher miles if it happens after the rates change but honestly thats a guess.

If you change it after new rules go into affect then you pay the higher rate. Period. There is no charge to change it (assuming your status is still high enough) and you can also use the online tool to do it - I do that all the time and works great - just click on change flights and it will redeposit / take miles based on the new flights...

There is a statement that needs clarification -- UA Insider has already state a simple date change will not trigger the new rates. An all UA metal routing change is unclear, most other changes likely will trigger a repricing.

I love that you are trying to be positive - but the simple fact is that once the new rates go in to affect - and you try to change your flights - which a new routing is (not a date change) they WILL charge the new rates to get there. Now you might find a supervisor or a sympatheitc agent that will try their best - but I wouldn't count on it...

We probably will not agree on the semantics but suspect many consider a date change as a change to your flights. So dstill disadgree with the original statement. Will a all UA metal routing change trigger a repricing, not clear but I would not be surprised if it does (and there a chance you might get waived as you suggested).

Yea I'm unclear on what exactly is a simple change, i suspected a routing change would change the redemption rates but oat this point its anyones guess (unless UA Insider chimes in)
