UA's New Policy for Passenger Electronic Devices During Takeoff/Landing (6 Nov 2013)
This report suggests that Delta may start allowing use of gadgets under a revised rule from 1st November. Has there been any word on when United might implement this?

Will PMCO charge headphone fee to use your own device?

FAA to allow electronics below 10,000 feet. Delta starts tomorrow. Where's UA?
The title says it all. The FAA is hoping that by the end of the year that major carriers will work with them to allow electronic use of ipads. ipods, e-readers, etc. below 10,000 feet. Delta has announced they're starting tomorrow. Where's UA on this?

The FAA requires operators to show that use of the devices will not interfere w/ avionics.
UA, so far, has shown Commodore 64s clear for use on their a/c. |
One would think UA would copy DL, as usual, but something tells me they won't be so quick on this one
|
The reason Delta and Jetblue were so quick compared to other carriers, as posted on the Alaska Airlines thread.

Delta and Jet Blue were part of a group that were working with the FAA to come up with guidance on rolling out this change. That's the reason they were able to roll it out much more quickly then other airlines.

Proven since that's how the pilots hook up to SHARES. :D
And anyways, don't the UA pilots already use the iPad as their electronic flight bag? Will my pilot have issues with the over-strobing iOS 7 software update? :p |

And so DL was leading, and UA just following as usual...

Passengers will still be asked to turn off their devices during the pre-departure safety briefing, as well as in low visibility conditions during landings, the FAA said |
They haven't figured out how to charge you for using your own device yet.
