Splitting PNR

We have a reservation waiting for upgrade using RPUs.

Two people on the same reservation:

1) 1K
2) General member - *S.

Should I split up the reservation, so I can take advantage of any RNs becoming available before departure.

The RPUs are coming from another family members 1K account.

What I am afraid is, as we get closer to the 100 hour window, the general member will not have priority, since that person is no longer part of the 1K reservation...BUT I think she will have priority, due to the sponsporship from a 1K on the RPU.

It's a small plane...737-700 from SNA-EWR, so FC seats are limited and possibly hard to upgrade.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Regards,

With an RPU you both should be ahead of all CPUs except those for GS customers (so I would think there is a decent chance).

Regards,

I think your analysis is right (that the silver member will retain the 1K priority) and I also think you are right that the better move would be to split in case they release R/RN inventory in one seat increments.

By slitting you may end up with one person upgraded (usually the person with the lower ticket number) you also may get different IRROPS service (unlikely).

Can you split a multi-city itinerary?

Deleted, wrong thread.

I have a different question (see title), which I'll try posting here.
It is a simple multi-city circle route -- cities A-B-C-A. Web site allows me to try to split the tickets, but then gives an error message. This has happened to me before. Is this normal, i.e. one can't split multi-city itineraries?

Mod, this should probably be a different thread

We have split (not by choice, fyi), got IRROPS, but got same service. I think the more likely scenario is the one person upgraded scenario
