Oh, I don't know, maybe items at any of the many national chains that permit you to do exactly that? Because they have a policy that allow no-questions-asked refunds that permit returns of even opened items up to a certain time? Kinda like United allows refunds up until the time of the flight?

The notice here would be completely inadequate to support a criminal conviction.

I know nothing of the law, but what the OP is proposing doesn't sound illegal to me.

However, I would never do it for reasons other FTers have already mentioned.

Wait... could I get into the SQ F lounge? Then maybe...

JUST KIDDING :D

Illegal, probably not, unethical, probably.

This time, I gotta say, I agree.

Opened and consumed are not necessarily the same thing.

I'll ask again: What else do you buy, consume part of and then refund for all your money back and consider it not theft?

Please feel free to be specific.

I think Nordstrom may have dropped the policy. Maybe LLBean still has it. Anyway, you can use the clothing for months (which certainly means that you've consumed part of it) but then return it for a full refund, with no questions asked. Some grocery stores have the same policy with consumables.

I've seen some people return food that was 90% consumed back to Costco saying that they weren't satisfied, no questions asked.

This thread has clearly :(utlived its usefulness. I'll remedy that situation by closing it.
