United Specials-This week

This week's United specials just came out. It looks like a big reduction in offering this week compared to last week and most of the following weeks that I've been tracking it.

http://www.united.com/web/en-us/apps...s/default.aspx

For Chicago,
Chicago, IL (ORD - O'Hare) Charleston, WV (CRW) $161 OR 17,500 Miles+$41 $52 $24
Chicago, IL (ORD - O'Hare) Eau Claire, WI (EAU) $157 OR 17,500 Miles+$41 $42 ---
Chicago, IL (ORD - O'Hare) Edmonton, AB Canada (YEG) $411 OR 22,500 Miles+$94 $87 $1
Chicago, IL (ORD - O'Hare) Fort Wayne, IN (FWA) $161 OR 17,500 Miles+$41 $40 $17
Chicago, IL (ORD - O'Hare) Green Bay, WI (GRB) $161 OR 17,500 Miles+$41 $44 $17
Chicago, IL (ORD - O'Hare) Huntsville, AL (HSV) $221 OR 17,500 Miles+$41 $49 $17

Chicago, IL (ORD - O'Hare) London, ON Canada (YXU) $227 OR 17,500 Miles+$85 $53 $23
Chicago, IL (ORD - O'Hare) Muskegon, MI (MKG) $157 OR 17,500 Miles+$41 $45 ---
Chicago, IL (ORD - O'Hare) Paducah, KY (PAH) $147 OR 17,500 Miles+$41 $60 $29
Chicago, IL (ORD - O'Hare) Peoria, IL (PIA) $161 OR 17,500 Miles+$41 $58 $21
Chicago, IL (ORD - O'Hare) Saginaw, MI (MBS) $161 OR 17,500 Miles+$41 $42 $16
Chicago, IL (ORD - O'Hare) South Bend, IN (SBN) $161 OR 17,500 Miles+$41 $60 $24
Chicago, IL (ORD - O'Hare) Springfield, IL (SPI)

Indiana and Wisconsin are driveable to Chicago. Like usual, there are those like Cleveland-Columbus, Scranton-Newark, Harrisburg-Washington (IAD) where flying makes little sense because it's driveable, but United has typically had some Chicago to eastern US city special every week.

There is no DCA, IAD, LGA or EWR this week in particular. DCA and IAD were offered almost every weekend this year.

It's somewhat dissapointing, not only from Chicago, but just the lack of good specials or the smaller list. Is this a sign of things to come?

This is a holiday weekend; it should be expected that there are fewer specials as there are higher loads without them.

Everything you can dream of is in Peoria.

Have a blast, in Peoria.

Chicago Marathon is this weekend, eats up a lot of capacity to/from Chicago.

So, what has the price to DC been, typically? I never look at the specials, so I'm curious.

Yes. It signifies Columbus Day is coming.

Everyone's favourite route, SFO-MOD, is available for the low low price of $161 this weekend. That's $2.06 per mile, for those keeping score.

It's not available this weekend, but SFO-MRY is also a common eFare favorite.

$221 r/t. It's typically $221 to/from Chicago to DCA/IAD, BWI, PHL/ABE, LGA/EWR whenever those cities are offered, and $161 between ORD-PIT. Except for the peak summer and these holiday weekends, DCA/IAD gets the fare deal every weekend, which makes it easy to decide on short notice to affordably travel to/from Chicago-DC.

$1.03 - you're forgetting about the return.

16 CPM if you're elite (500 mile minimums) - or 8 cents for a 1K if you're counting RDM.

Sounding better all the time isn't it!! :)

Same as usual for SBA: $161 to SFO, and that's it. Not good for a mileage run, obviously, but some day I bet I'll grab that when I'd been planning to drive to the Bay area for the weekend already.

EWR has had 20+ markets the past few weeks that were available for webspecials - this week it is 6. it is the three-day weekend. after all, the webspecials are to help fill empty flights - clearly it will be a busy weekend!
