Question What hotels are used by UA at EWR during irrops?

Looks like I'm going to have to spend the night there: 5 hour MX, which brings me in 5 minutes before a connection. That is, of course, if they manage to turnaround a 757 in 35 minutes...

What hotel does UA send pax to in EWR? Or does it change? Trying to plan ahead.

It does vary based on quota availability. UA has a quota with various hotels, and even the hotel might have space, once the UA block is full, they go to the next one.

Pray for the Marriott or Renaissance hotels, which are your best bets if you can cajole a voucher from SHARES, or if you're prepared to pay your own way.

Hotel in EWR

Stay at the EWR Marriott. Your room will have a view of the runway or the great view of historical Newark.

The hotels provided in EWR based on availability are generally (in order):

Ramada Plaza/Wyndham Garden - Domestic, International Economy Class.

Wydham Garden, Crown Plaza, Sheraton - Global first, International
Business/First, Global Services.

Marriott properties are used when there are no other options.

Awww... even though UA and Marriott are now close partners in their FT programs?

As posted per the class of service or destination.

Elite status does however determine weather a hotel is provided or not under certain circumstances.

for example, 1K customers recieve hotels for weather / ATC cancellations when available.

Find out if your hotel has a free shuttle, so you won't have to pay for cab fare. Hotel shuttles leave from station P4 on the airtrain.

Thanks all!
We ended up making the connection (thanks United!), so we'll leave the pleasure of exploring Newark's finest establishments to a later date.

Bringing this back up to add my rant: As a 1K helping out United on an oversold flight I got the Ramada Plaza EWR - what a dump of a hotel. We obviously did not get our bags back, so had no toothbrush or combs at hand - pay $5 each as the hotel does not provide those for free - a first for me. And the hotel-shuttle is awfully infrequent - many other hotels' shuttle passed by several times while waiting for the Ramada-bus...

Really think twice to volunteer at EWR in the future if it means an overnight - being left without basic support just does not sit too well with me. Can't wait to leave tomorrow as early as possible!

Greetings - Dirk

We should start a wikipost of the various hotels UA uses at the hubs.

CO put our whole EWR-TXL 752 up in the Wyndham Garden before. That was not fun getting to as you had to take the air train to the parking lot and then the hotel shuttle fits around 20 people and took about 20-25 min between each one.

They will reimburse you a reasonable amount (up to about $100 in New York) if you decide to use your own hotel and claim it back from them.

I had an sCO agent offer me, before they merged everything into SHARES, a Marriott. I went my own way and stayed in NY, my rebook was out of JFK on PS.
