I agree, makes you question UA's hiring process in SFO.

United worker and wife convicted of stealing luggage after Asiana Airlines crash at SFO

A man who worked for United Airlines and his wife have pleaded no contest to grand theft and possession of stolen property for stealing the luggage of passengers who were supposed to fly into San Francisco International Airport but were diverted because of the Asiana Airlines crash, prosecutors said Tuesday.

Sean Sharif Crudup, 44, of Richmond and his wife, Raychas Elizabeth Thomas, 32, entered the pleas Monday in San Mateo County Superior Court. They face up to a year in jail when they are sentenced May 13.

Perhaps after serving time for pulling this caper he could apply at Skywest. With UA on his references, as he is a great asset.

We need Judge Judy on this. She would have thrown the book at both of them and they would have received a free trip to LA to tape the show, including a 5* hotel. They might have even flown on UA. (kidding).

Throw both of them in jail. Case closed.

For misdemeanor theft? I don't want to pay for them to be in jail for ten years. One year in jail, loss of jobs, additional expenses incurred due to their own stupidity, reduced future career options. That's enough. It's called the justice system, not the revenge system.

Right! Only both JFK & EWR, but not LGA. LGA is the perimeter rule within 1,250 miles.

Ah, I see now how we end up with insane sentencing laws.

If you're blowing ten years on theft, that doesn't leave you a whole lot of shades of gray for, ya know, the billion more serious crimes out there...

Bravo, zero recidivism

We all know the CRJ2 doesn't have the legs for a non-stop. SFO - LGA via five or six cow towns should be possible though

Edit: Actually, mods, please change title to "accused of stealing"...

That is just wrong squared.
