7/12/2013 @ 2:33 PM ET - Post 179 - An update by UA Insider telling us to hang tight.
Hi everyone,

Wanted to jump in here and let you know that we are indeed looking ahead to an announcement about new reward opportunities for MileagePlus members—over and above what you’ve seen already this week. I’ll ask that you sit tight for the next few days, but rest assured you can expect full details from me the minute we go live. And while I know you’ll give us honest feedback (as always), I do believe this is something to look forward to :-).

Note: The Mercedes-Benz offer for Premier members is NOT related to this.

I hope their marketing team is paying attention. It is extremely telling that as soon as one of these nebulous announcements comes out the assumption is almost uniformly that it's another "enhancement" for UA's bottom line at the expense of its customers.

WN and B6 don't have any partners. Does VX? I think that's the point.

we're still within 12 hours of the original tweet. No announcement by CoB today would be a different story.

On FT? Probably the standard reaction from nearly any FT forum anticipating any travel supplier announcement.

I don't facebook but somebody posted up thread that they are getting a similar response there. It does speak to bad marketing though if the first thing anyone assumes when you say you're going to make an annoucement is that it must mean bad news.

let's be honest ... UA miles has been the most useful for quite sometime, so it's only realistic that they would want to bring it back to the level of their competitors

as long as they only do a minor devaluation, i'm fine with it. I, however, would be sincerely pissed if they went to 3-tier award with 0.001% chance of scoring a low-level one.

If it was a big positive change, UA Insider would have announced it. My guess is it's gimmicky and tied to credit cards. It will be useless to anyone above silver.

Just made a reservation hold but not ticketed it yet. Hopefully the hold price will be valid even after announcement

If this were the Benz deal, I would think that UA Insider would have stepped in clarify that by now. Right?
