EVA (BR) award experiences using United miles

Going through my daily reward searches, I noticed EVA Airways is now showing on the United Reward Search......and there goes all the EVA space

It's already gone...just a day or two ago, you could go JFK-TPE-JFK in business pretty much any day in August (!), when all other TPAC/TATL space was gone. Now - BR space is gone as well. Ah well.

Not the days I'm looking.

UA is also building multi-carrier itineraries with BR in them reasonably well:

I also see plenty of availability in August / September on JFK-TPE. Much better in September but definitely some availability in August.

I'll be more clear...a day or two ago, each way, C was available on ~25 of the 31 days of the month. Now, none to JFK, and ~3 days on the return.

Subsequent months still look good however.

Maybe they changed the availability based on some other metric, like because we're in July now instead of June. Inventory changes all the time. Suggesting that it is "already gone" because one route you're following changed for reasons we don't really know seems quite a stretch.

At least the space is showing up. Would have made my Thailand vacation planning easier a few weeks back.

Excellent. Anyone know if the data shown is reliable vs. KVS/ANA?

It has matched the few ANA searches I was doing yesterday. KVS is just using one of the other underlying data sources so that will match whatever source you're "specialized browsing" from.

Simply watch out when you book.

I have tried to make a dummy award booking for TPE-HKG one-way. And UA allows me to book this:

Flight: BR2897
Operated by Hamburg Airlines Luftfahrtgesellschaft.
Aircraft: Airbus A330-200
Meal: Snack or Brunch
No Special Meal Offered.
See On-Time Performance

I checked with HKG's flight schedule. That was a BR codeshare flight operated by Hong Kong Airlines (HX).

I am not sure. But are we allowed to book on non-UA and non-*A partnered award flights?

This is the "new" Hong Kong Airlines. The old one did go bankrupt.

It's no different than being able to book one of the TK flights operated by 9W.
