MEX (Mexico City) Checking Questions

Anyone know how long before the flight the checkin opens at MEX?
As usual Alex on the united site has no clue.

Does printing a boarding pass at the hotel get you through security to the lounge? I don't have checked bags obviously!

It is an afternoon flight to SFO tomorrow and there are several flights out in the morning so was hoping the desks stay open.

Had a bad experience in Bogota where the desks didn't open until 2 hrs prior.

Thanks!

MEX check-in opens at 4:30a on Saturdays. UA has a fair stream of departures until around 3:00p, so there should be someone around whenever you check-in (assuming you don't arrive 10+ hours early ).

Never sure at thin airports with probably contracted checkin!

I just went through MEX last year. Interestingly the premier line was actually guarded by a staff. Upon showing my premier credentials he lifted the bar and let me through. Pretty impressive.

Not generally a bad place

We fly to MEX several times a year to visit family. Check in at MEX is actually pretty good for elites. They do monitor the line to keep out non-elite pax, and the agents are usually friendly and helpful, IME. The club is acres away from the gate, so be sure to allow time to hoof it.

It's not a thin airport by any means.

They have flights to SFO, LAX, IAH, EWR, IAD, ORD and sometimes DEN. And in some markets, multiple flights a day.

And I think UA has their own staffing there. They wear UA uniforms.

fying united from MEX to EWR on a sunday morning. How much time in advance of the flight should I arrive given its an international flight and are there long lines expected on a sunday at 8am?

Thx

My last time down there I got there 2 hours before my departure and things were busy but I had plenty of time. Will you have access to the Premier check in line? That was a big time saver.

no premier access. Just got the explorer card but don't think it gets me that

I flew out of MEX awhile back and 2 hours should be quite safe, although it wasn't on a Sunday a.m.

I'd be more concerned with making sure you have a large buffer with your travel time to the airport as traffic can be horrendous, even during times that you wouldn't expect it to be.

That's the real crapshoot. MEX is only some 6-7 miles outside the city, but traffic can make the trek anywhere from 20 minutes to over an hour.

For giggles, next time you're in a taxi there, count the number of times you hear the phrase "mucho traffico" on the radio. It can be staggering.

Agree with posters. 2hrs in advance is enough, even if you don't have premier access. Traffic can be bad, but should be alright on a Sunday morning.

As long as you're not a Mexican national, no need to wait in any lines for exit immigration either...just like leaving the US

Have rarely found security there to take more than 5 minutes
