Already got one in my office...thanks to a great UA station manager over 18 months ago. I highly recommend this as a great conversation piece...particularly among pmUA staff that are amazed when I show them a photo.

If someone did this, and filmed it, it would be fantastic.

Pretty cool that United does this. There appears to be two carpets for auction at this time, with one auction ending in early June and one in late June.

I already have a United Red Carpet in my bedroom It used to be at an SFO gate. It looks great!

Shouldn't there be hundreds of these for auction?

This would justify being gate lice.

Was still at 38,000 with 1:25 to go. Meeting run long and missed the final bidding. Any one know what was the winning bid?

Looks like it's up to 65K!

Magic Red Carpet Ride

It's what I always wanted.
It's one of the million reasons I dreamed to be a 1K.
Yet it's what I was told I could never have.

But I saw some of you posting pictures of it in your apartments and houses. And all you did was ask...

So I asked.
I pleaded.
I begged.
I offered to buy.
I offered to do anything.
But no. No Red Carpet for me

FT to the rescue! Never cruise MP Auctions but there it is. Some will say I spent way too many miles for a silly carpet (sorry if I outbid you) but it is truly magical to know one of them is now on its way to me

I'm halfway tempted to bring this thing to SFO and setup my own boarding lane but I imagine that is frowned upon. Anyone who has one care to comment?

I'm only kidding of course. Have a great weekend everyone.

They're remarkably heavy and bulky, so I would think you'd get tired of carrying it before long. And in order to fit in Mr SizeWise, you'd probably have to fold and roll, which would likewise be cumbersome.

Or so I presume. I haven't tried to take it to the airport, and its been a while since I even carried it in to work, where it proudly sits, welcoming visitors to my office. (It is, it turns out, a remarkable conversation piece)
