HI i would like to plan a trip to CPT from IAH or DTW. WHen's the best time to go to get cheap flights? Are there any double mile rewards currently. I have many miles with UA, but am thinking of purchasing the ticket so that I can get additional miles. Is that a good idea?

1. When flights are cheap. (Not being cavalier, but not the right forum for specific travel flight advice).
2. Not to CPT.
3. Yes, but it depends on the flight price versus miles used.

FT normally notes to use a travel agent for help in pricing out flights.

For all other questions (like using miles, reward bonuses) this is the right forum.
