i flew it recently from SFO-SEA. honestly i thought they were fine. i'm 6 foot flat, so pretty middle of the range in height i guess. the only nitpick is the seatback pouch on the bottom is pretty much pointless. it will barely take a water bottle.

right before that my inbound was EWR-SFO on a pmCO 737. it has the seats that sorta look like p.s. flights with the old blue checker pattern. honestly, i hated those more than the blue slimlines.

ultimately though the biggest peeve i have, especially on longer routes, is the lack of power.

and if i remember right these feel like the same seats that LH uses. except they don't have the extra padding. i took one last month FRA-AMS and remembered it being stiffer than UA's seats, but overall i didn't mind those either.

i wonder what would happen if an american carrier does "business class" like LH does on short haul flights. pretty sure FT would implode.
The blue slimlines (Airbus version) are better than the grey ones but only slightly, because they have a little more padding. But really, they both suck.

I've only tried the blue slimlines, not the grey ones (which aircraft are those on?) and I already hate the blue ones with a passion. Are you saying that the grey ones are worse?

The grey slimlines are on the A319/A320 fleet only, however the A319/A320 fleet are getting reupholstered with the leather blue seat covers but are still the recaros. The 737 slimlines are BE Aerospace.

Yes. They are right up there with the LH seat in terms of discomfort. The Blues are not much better IMO. The 737 slimline I like. I wonder why they couldn't install them in the Airbus

I put it this way: If you're on a United Airbus, the seats are going to suck. They might be blue or grey but they're not going to be comfortable.

The UA Airbus slimlines are the same seats that LH uses but with an additional 'comfrt package.'

United really brings a new meaning to "If it's not Boeing, I'm not going!"

I can almost take back everything I said about UA's slimlines on the Airbus fleet... Almost.

This is Frontier's idea of slimline. I suppose it's similar to a folding chair.

Well, I still prefer F in an Airbus to F in a 737.

Shame is that the Airbus Y seats used to be among the more comfortable in UA's fleet.

I used to like the Y seats on the Airbuses because they were an inch wider than on the Boeings (they still are, I think), and the pitch was 31-32" and if you were in E+, you could get lucky if your aircraft gets swapped with a former Ted aircraft (or if United simply loads the wrong seatmap), and have row 12 be full recline instead of no recline.)

I've ridden NJ Transit and found most of their seats to be more comfortable than the United Airbii's. Not sure about Frontier's, which do look rather punishing.

Those are the same seats that HA is installing on it's 717 fleet.

And is Hawaiian flying their 717s on five hour long legs?
