Routing to Perth, Australia
 

I am hoping this is the right place to post this. I am going to be traveling from Chicago (ORD) to Perth, Australia soon, and am looking at how to route myself so I maximize my miles at the best fare. Currently the best fare is to fly to ORD -> LAX -> SYD -> Perth, but Perth is Quantas, so I don't get the miles for that ($1800). I am hoping someone who is more talented then I am can suggest a different routing to maximize my miles.

ORD-NRT-SIN-PER on UA /NH / SQ would work. Also could fly via BKK.

Qantas, not Quantas by the way ;)

ORD-LAX/SFO/YVR-AKL-PER on UA/NZ would work.

ORD-IAD-JNB-PER could work, too. But my guess is that none of them will price anywhere close to the SYD/QF option.

Are any of the revenue legs collecting *A/UA miles?

i am trying to do the same get to PER on UA, however there are seldom upgrades from sfo/lax in Oct to syd..... so i thought i would go via ord -SIN-per however that does not price out competitively.

RGN-SIN-PER-JNB-IST-JFK is all revenue. Biz until JNB and the TK segments in coach. But that's out of JFK and there are no ORD-JFK flights so I didn't think it would work for the OP. That's also why I chose the IAD flight on SAA rather than the JFK one. ;)
