BP stamped on entry to UC
First travel this year, but today by BP was stamped on entry to the domestic SFO UC.
Stamped
RCC SFOCS
Jan 20 2012
Is this new?
Any idea why it is being done?

No stamp at both DEN RCCs this morning.
I did get a stamp in Tokyo, though.

I have had this done a number of times over the years...come to think about it, the last couple of times I visited the Int'l UC at SFO, my boarding pass was stamped!

I found it odd when I got a stamp last weekend entering an RCC. Don't recall if it was ORD or SFO, but it was one of them. Forgot about it until I saw this thread!

interesting. usually they just remember me. i like the idea though, efficient and easy to train to a uniform standard. no more guessing if it's going to be hassle, especially if you leave before your guest. i don't remember stamps at PCs, so is this just a new thing?

DEN used to do this on the occasions when I was entering on the basis of being a *G traveling on an international itin. And back in the days when they gave out chits, they would write the passport number on the back of the BP.

The only time I've seen this was SFO Intl RCC and I believe it was done to track who had already received drink chits (before free booze).

My sense is that this is some local thing since it's "RCC". If it were new no doubt it would carry the new branding of UC.
Perhaps it has to do with the wifi cards? I've heard some agents say these cost UA money per card and refuse to give me one so I can connect multiple devices (since the MP # only works for one).
Other than that I can't think of the incremental cost in letting people in multiple times.
Other idea would be that they had to look your access rights up (vs. just scanning the BP)? If this was the case they may stamp the BP so that they don't have to do it again if you exit and reenter.
All that said, my guess is it's just a bored agent looking for something to keep themselves busy at the desk.

NH does not seem to care. Nor does *A rules prevent you from doing this. I've used my RCC-stamped UA BP to enter the ANA club and nobody bats an eyelid at NH besides telling you the usual "we do not announce UA flights"
