Name error
Dear all,
I recently received a status match back to UA, and as such want to start accruing miles in my account. The only activity on that for the last couple years has been the odd few Avis miles to keep it active. Anyway, freshly armed with my new gold status, I logged in today - to find that the letters "ma" have been added at the end of my surname. I am a bit concerned to book a ticket, as clearly my ID won't match that random addition. Having looked at the possibility of altering the name on the account, the UA website seems to require faxing/mailing several proofs of ID. This is fine, but for the fact I need to travel next week and I'm not sure the change to the correct name will be done in time. Any suggestions? thanks |

Thank you for your reply.
Having tried to resolve this online, it doesn't work. The website assumes I am trying to change from a former to a current name,as opposed to simply rectifying an error. Having called UA, they seem utterly confused and just keep saying I have to provide proof of my "former name." I don't have a former name! :) |
When you book, you can put TSA's "real name" in the secure flight information.
Shouldn't be an issue. |
Thanks.
The main problem I have is it won't let me book under my true name, and be logged in at the same time, so I have to pay for E+ etc. |
Call back and play the phone center roulette, someone can help u

If it consoles you any, my husband had US Air put his first name also into the slot for his middle name, as in John John Smith, and I cannot for the life of me get it out. Done all the required docs, etc and still it persists. So depressing to hear Customer Service tell you about all the authority they do not have. I was hoping that UA was better but apparently not. I am crazed that it cannot be treated as a simple error instead of a name change. For you also.
