Birthday recognition?

My grandmother just turned 89 last week and next week she is flying to see her daughter's family (my aunt/unlce/cousin) in Houston. She is on flight 1695 (11-Oct) and I have applied my last RPU for her as a surprise. If it does not clear I will apply it to her return flight.

My question is there anyway to get a message to the flight crew that it is her birthday? I have email 1KVoice but was wondering if there were any other avenues to pass the message of happy birthday from you grand-kids?

Also: looking at the upgrade list from today's flight it looks like they cleared A LOT of people to first. So i think our chances are good for the upgrade. If it doesn't clear before 24 hours she will be on the airport list under my 1K status right?

Isn't there a FT "meet-up" somewhere? Maybe you can see if someone else is on 1695.

Hello!

Do you have enough upgrades for your Grandmother's return flight?

I wonder if they can insert an SSR (special service request - where they put things like wheelchair) in her PNR for the employees to do something for her. I am not sure what it should say or code it should use to get the attention of the gate agent to tell the cabin crew.

You could have them put in comments in the record, but that would only be noticed if someone actually looked in the record, not something done normally.

If she would be flying on a real airline, you could order a birthday cake and it could come with a note from the captain.

Well since she is flying EWR-Houston United was the obvious choice.

Also, what airlines let you buy a cake?! That sounds awesome!

Noted: I sent a message to Jeff Smisek and I will call the premier line later today.

Thanks All!

Did I say that I would buy a cake? With SQ you can just request it and it will be boarded for your flight. Some lobster with Dom and then birthday cake with some more Dom. Just had this combo this past May.

A reminder that our rules require our posters to be polite, helpful and on topic. The OP has asked how to get a message to the flight crew; he did not ask for opinions on the matter. If you do not have something helpful to contribute, please refrain from posting. I have removed a few posts that did not meet the posting rules.

I would say to get there a little early & have "chat" with the gate agent.
