recent experiences IAD-EZE?

Well, it appears that UA killed its IAD-EZE nonstop service. From IAD, routings are through EWR or IAH. If I were to make this trip, wondering which routing might be "better." any recent experiences or thoughts on this most welcome. thanks!

I have traveled from IAD, EWR and IAH to EZE. I actually like the BF product from IAH, last trip in BF from EWR was not exactly a BF experience.. The old UA Service from IAD was the best in my experience.. Safe Travels

Haha, so your advice is "travel in a time machine to 2010, then in a flying machine IAD-EZE?" Fair enough. I definitely remember great experiences in the J cabin on IAD-EZE/EZE-IAD.

I feel like choosing between IAH and EWR basically comes down to whether or not you get a good flight crew — the flights are roughly the same distance, they leave at roughly the same time, and they should have roughly the same product.

The only other option involves going through PTY on Copa (which is practically like flying UA), but I wouldn't want to fly on a 737 for seven hours!

I avoid the rotten staff at EWR whenever I can... IAH is the better option.

I actually prefer this routing because you can overnight in PTY and avoid having any redeyes. ^

Either route works really. I just did a trip down there this week and did both routes. The IAH had a New York crew and the EWR flight was IAH based. Really a crap shoot. Just get a seat you like and try to get some sleep. I was happy with it!

I flew EWR-EZE-IAH a couple of months ago and the experience was the same. Both flights were sUA 767 with the 2 class BF retrofit. I prefer IAH for the airport, but EWR for the miles :D

I've not flown either but the WAS-EWR connection stinks. For me at least, it has gotten to the point that if I have to fly from EWR, I take the train up the night before (if at all possible).

Cheers -

Out of curiosity anyone aware why IAD lost the EZE flight? I have taken that a number of times on pmUA 3-class 767.

Because EWR is the shining palace of world class airport terminals, according to CO ... ummmm..... so much so that people were predicted to pay a premium to transit via the palace. It isn't working out so well for the route, actually.

It was likely a top line revenue increasing move. The Origination/Desitnation market for New York-Buenos Aires is larger than the Origination/Destination market for Washington DC/Buenos Aires combined with the fact that you can generally charge more for non-stops vs. connecting flights (Especially in this case where your connecting flights from IAD-EWR/JFK/LGA are undesirable). A similar reasoning caused Glenn Tilton to whimper about not having an NYC hub the entire time he led United.

I did EWR-EZE (rt) in BF a month ago. Take-aways:

-They worked miracles to get the PMUA ghetto birds to look spiffy. I thought I was flying on a relatively new plane from PMCO. It's hard to believe that this plane probably had duct tape visible inside the cabin only a year ago.
-The food was ghastly. Nothing at all like PMCO catering. I was shocked. It was closer PMUA Business class catering, only worse.
-I don't have issues with most personnel at EWR except the lounge agents. They are something else, and not in a good way.

I think you mean the other way around - the EWR-EZE has NY-based crew, and the IAH-EZE flight has an IAH-based crew.
