From @United on Twitter:
We’re looking at domestic flying for the 787 as we learn more about certification & modification timelines. DEN-NRT is planned for June.

"United Airlines plans to resume flying the 787 Dreamliner in May, the carrier told CNN in anticipation of regulatory approval of Boeing's remedy for battery problems that forced the jetliner's worldwide grounding."

anyone who votes at the FAA to allow it to go ETOPs from the get-go should be forced to fly on the flight,as should the head honchos of Boeing and UA

why Oh why do I think if that was the case approval may be granted only for over land flights till enough flights and other tests have been performed

You left out the words "plans to" and "FAA... must sign off"

I'm still skeptical.

This. Nobody is going to be flying a UA 787 anywhere until the FAA certifies Boeing's fix.

The June 10 date for DEN-NRT has been in the GDS for 10 days now; it isn't particularly new news. And, while I have a seat reserved on the flight, I'm not holding my breath that it actually happens.

LOL I like the use of the last day of the month so they can claim they will be flying in May. That was actually one of the headlines going across the bottom of the CNBC ticker yesterday (United to Resume 787 flights in May). Its kind of like gas stations using the .009 at the end of the gas prices. Optics I suppose.
