downgrade comp?

i read somewhere and now i can't remember where, that we are eligible for downgrade comp even if it's a CPU. is that correct? does someone have the GG ...XXX and what is the language in it? i was downgraded on a short 400 mile flight when it switched from a cr7 to a cr2 and just wondering if i should write to customer service to ask for comp.

thx.

Does not matter how the F seat was obtained.

Though there might be an exclusion from downgrade compensation for small (>50 seat) plane swaps.

downgrade comp?

You'll get an eTCV for $200.

I was recently told by multiple UA sources that downgrade compensation is no longer given for complimentary upgrades. YMMV.

What about an M up fare. I misconnected due to another UA flight and lost my First class seat and also no E+ so ended up E- on a M fare. Chalked it up to oh well.

involuntary downgrade on award ticket on UA 938 ORD-LHR

Hi, Ms. ORDOGG's grandmother recently passed so I booked her a business saver award ticket on 6 Feb 13 ORD-LHR on UA928. UA928 was continually delayed then cancelled. I called UA twice and she was protected in business class and was issued a BP for UA938 for 9B. When boarding they took it away and gave her 21C! Any thoughts on comp besides miles refund? Thanks in advance!

GG OVS DOWNGRADE should be given at the gate.

If not, contact M+ Service Center for mile redeposit.

And ask Premier Voice for downgrade compensation.

Why do people chalk everything up to an ohhh well? That is a sad state of affairs if we don't hold United accountable.

Had a return flight in mid-January, SLC-ORD-FRA-HEL. I used miles and money to upgrade that flight to biz; 20,000 miles and $550. When I booked the upgrade I auto cleared on the TATL leg but nothing else. By the time I got to SLC I was 1st on the waitlist for an F seat on the SLC-ORD leg. My original flight was several hours delayed so I switched to an earlier flight from SLC-ORD in which the whole F cabin was full by the time I was ticketed. Just looked at my credit card statement and noticed that United refunded the $550, looked at my MP statement and saw they refunded the 20k miles as well. So, I sat in the back on the two short end legs, got biz for the TATL and it didn't cost me a penny. Not sure if this is normal, but it definitely won UA some brownie points from me!

Well, nice to hear something positive for a change! ^

Does UA give compensation for a downgrade for a domestic Y-Up fare?

They're wrong. Although IME PMUA agents are of that opinion... I've been on the wrong side of it several times. "It was a free upgrade, after all."

Definitely due compensation.

Don't hold your breath...my buddy was traveling internationally on a Z fare and was involuntarily downgraded from J to Y. United told him that because the Y bucket they rebooked him into actually cost more than he had paid for his Z fare they didn't owe him anything...madness. He is still fighting with UA.

Putting the difference in fares aside, he is owed a $500 e-cert* for the downgrade and that cert is processed at the gate so if that didn't happen, the gate agent who downgraded him screwed up

*and that amount may be higher based on the distance flown but I'll let others chime in on that

Wait, was this a downguage (and downgrade) that happened as a result of a schedule change? IIRC, GG OVS DOWNGRADE only applies for downgrades at the gate.

Same thing happened to me this week when a schedule change caused an involuntary downgrade. I had purchased a first class ticket and they have since changed the aircraft type from a 737 to an ERJ.
The phone agent (who was terrible) tried to pull the same line "well you were on a discounted first class ticket and we've booked you into a more expensive Y class fare bucket". So what? As a non elite, there goes my free checked bag, priority boarding, not to mention the larger seat etc etc. for the same price? I think not...
So I cancelled the ticket and will give my business to AA or another carrier... I'm sure they could care less, but it made me feel a little better that they aren't getting the revenue on this trip.

That should lead to an instant "may I please speak with your supervisor?"
