2013 "Upsell Offers to Business/First (UFC/PCU)" Questions/Discussion (Paid Upgrades)

You have the Premium Cabin Upsell (PCU) which will net you extra PQM's and can be done at purchase or anytime before checkin if you are prompted. This will book into a business/first bucket.

Upgrade For Cash (UFC) is done at checkin (online, counter, lounge, gate) and will NOT give you the extra PQM's.

To make it easy to follow simply list:

what route
original fare bucket
price offered
PCU/UFC?
Where it was offered/accepted

Accept it?
Deny it?

For easy reference here is the 2012 & 2011 thread: UA Upsell Offers For Bus./First Seating (At Purchase, OLCI, or Gate) 2011 Edition.

First one of the year!

what route: RDU-EWR
original fare bucket: L
price offered: $479
PCU/UFC? PCU
Where it was offered/accepted: Just after booking

Accept it? You must be joking
Deny it? Obviously

This was part of a RDU-EWR-ORD booking (both flights E70s) and the buy up was NOT offered for EWR-ORD.

what route: ORD-MIA
original fare bucket: G
price offered: $755
PCU/UFC? PCU
Where it was offered/accepted: Just after booking
Deny it? yes

Basically it was the price difference between G and Z.

Update: At OLCI both the outbound flight and the return flight UFC offer was down to $189. Denied it both times; I don't value UA domestic F very much, not even for a 3-3.5 hr flight. On the outbound I ended up #2 on the upgrade list and got the last upgrade on the return.

Since it is early in the year, would it make sense to divide this thread in two, with one for domestic and the other for international flights?

2013 Upsell offers to Business/F (UFC, PCU)" Questions/Discussion [Paid Upgrades]

I will be flying tomorrow as a premier silver I did the check in for my flight zrh to Mco via iad on a T fare and I got these upgrades offers:

Zrh-iad: 829 dollars

Iad-Mco: 99 dollars, when I did the check in they had 4 available seats and now they only have one so I guess 3 people bought the upgrade

EWR-BRU tomorrow. So far OLCI is offering $979 for my K fare.

[Currently: J9, JN9, C9, D9, Z9, ZN9, P9, PN9, R6, RN6, IN5, I5, Y9, YN9, B9, M9, E9, U9, H9, HN9, Q9, V9, W9, S9, T9, L9, K9, G9, N9, XN9, X9]

Didn't finish the check-in process. For my own experimentation, I'm going to see if the price changes tomorrow online, and at the airport kiosk closer to the flight time.

Let us know what happens. The flight is about as wide open as it gets in the front.

If there was ever a flight for RN>R or IN>I, this would appear to be it...ah well.

1/20 LAX-IAD, UA 584 (redeye this Sunday), T fare

At booking, was offered UFC for ~$500. Had been R2 up until about an hour before booking, then it went to R0 (so I have been waitlisted with RPU).

Since then, have been offered:

$1278 (since booking)
$349 (earlier today)
$1278 (again today)

I understand the inauguration may be driving the loads on Sunday's flights and keeping them high--but the temporary $349 UFC offer earlier today is baffling me.
