There are lots of 1Ks who never get GPUs such as my MM companion. A 90k 1k is possibly another one.
The litmus test will be on Feb 2 if the status sticks or not.

92000 PQM in 2012, yet just got 1K status good thru 2014?
flew ~160000 miles in 2011, earned 1K status for 2012. Flew ~92000 (only 33 segments) in 2012, got 1K status renewed for all of 2013 (just got the "1K" packet in the mail today). Anyone know why? I was fully expecting to be "downgraded" to Premier Platinum due to the fact that I didn't hit the "100000" mile mark in 2012. United's website clearly states "Premier 1K®: 100,000 Premier qualifying miles or 120 Premier qualifying segments" based on a calendar year. So what gives? trust me...not complaining....just curious why United was feeling generous this year and renewed my 1K status for 2013.

Did you earn any PQM from a credit card or anything like that unknowingly?

There is already a thread in this Forum with good discussion about this from the experience of others. You might want to look at:

A guess here but probably no more than $20K in 2012. rarely full-fare...mostly M class or lower.

But it's not that which I object to, they 2013 status for 99.9% of customers was known on Jan 1st, yet their code generated temporary 2013 credentials at 2012 levels for almost month after this was known. The fact that people weren't downgraded bang on midnight GMT (or CST) doesn't matter to me, it's that nobody worked out the interdependencies between generating temporary credentials and updating 2013 status.

Reporting back (belatedly). I had about 80,000 miles and was made 1k. I did get the GPUs and the welcome package with goodies.
All my travel was high end ($$$$) international business first flights.
I'd say United made a good investment as I selected them for 2 recent international trips (China, Brazil), and am likely to stick with United for other long hauls this year.

You sound just like me, Trina. Already flown 35,000 United miles this year including 2 trips to Europe so it was a good investment for them.
