Phone Rep says 787; mobile app shows 777

Hi,

I booked DEN to DFW via IAH (to get on 787 for DEN to IAH) 12-10. UA 1219 shows 777-200 on the mobile app. When I called to change to direct flight to DFW since there was no 787, the supervisor said "Your Mobile App is Wrong" it is 787 for DEN to IAH.

Two observations - it is not MY mobile app and the aircraft number on mobile app suggests 777 (3002).

Any thoughts?

Searching for flights on United.com shows 1219 as a 787. However flight status for 1219 shows a 777-200. United Cargo is also showing a 777-200.
http://boardingarea.com/blogs/unroad...mliner-routes/ shows that a 787 normally flies that route. I'd guess an equipment change.

Bolding mine: Always go by what unitedcargo (search by schedule) shows as that is the most accurate (and in this case, a 777)

IME the mobile site/app is never wrong (though others may have examples).

I don't bother with unitedcargo anymore, since the mobile info is more specific (tells you precisely which plane, which can give you other useful info).

I would certainly trust the mobile app over the average phone agent.

It's a 777, ship 2: https://flightaware.com/live/flight/...725Z/KDEN/KIAH

Never trust a phone rep

I was on this bird this morning IAH-DEN ... originally supposed to be 787, and was swapped for a 777. Apparently fallout from the latest "electrical" issues. Two were parked at IAH near the service hangar this morning. I'm booked on a return next week DEN-IAH, so I hope they resolve by then!

The mobile app is in very small cases wrong - like for E145 fleet numbers, it takes the first three numbers of the N-reg rather than the last 3.

The level of imcompetence of phone reps is disturbing and totally unacceptable. I had a CHS EWR cancel today, and went through 6 agents before I got somebody who had any clue in how to rebook in irregular operations. Simply unbelievable.

Why is this tolerated?
