How Do I Convert Miles to EQMs??

The end of 2012 is nearing and it looks like I may just miss qualifying for 1K. Years ago I was in the same predicament and was able to convert miles to EQMs (at a rate of 10:1) in order to make the next level of status. However, since the merger with CO and the redesign of the website, I can't find the page where you can convert miles.

Does anyone know where I go on the UA website to convert miles to EQMs?

Cheers,

John

I don't think that option is still available.

You should be able to this with miles earned on a Chase United card. Can't do it with miles earned in other ways (as far as I know).

Not sure if you can do this with the Explorer card, but if you have one of the older Visa Signature MP cards you can redeem miles earned with the card from here:

as of 1/1/2012 all the MP branded Chase cards and now pre-exisiting CO branded Chase cards earn ChoicePoints

I do have an older card. The link above takes me to "My MileagePlus Choices Program Summary"; it has options to redeem for air travel or annual fee but not for conversion to PQM. However, the terms and conditions link on this page does mention the PQM option! So, not clear if the option has disappeared or just the ability to convert on line.

How do you turn miles earned with chase branded cards into EQMs?

When I go to that page, it has 3 options: Air Fare, Annual Fee, Elevated Status. You need the bottom one: Elevated Status. At a 10:1 ratio, you can get 1K, 2K, 3K, 4K, or 5K PQM if you have enough Choice Points.

go to the provided link (Select "Elevated Status" link) and convert in increments of 10K ChoicePoints RDMs to 1K PQMs for a max of 5K PQMs

I see now; earlier, I followed a link that took me to "summary" and did not offer "elevated status" option. Thanks!

I just took the 1000 PQM option ... yesterday completed TATL trip - last revenue flight of the year - and would have been 54 miles short of 1K without either Choices or the mileage accelerator route.

Too bad it has to be purchased in 1,000 increments. I need about 1,100. Might be cheaper to go the award accelerator route. Not sure yet.

Just so I understand, I can use the EQMs from my Chase card to reach 1K? I read somewhere on this forum that you must have "flown" miles to get 1K.

yes, using ChoicePoint RDM to PQM conversion or the united.com purchase PQMs

What you read was about a different credit card (PresidentPlus) which provided Flexiable EQMs and those can not be used for 1K.
