E-Mail from United on 1/28/2020

We're changing terminals. Starting February 4, all our flights will depart and arrive from the new Terminal 3. If you're arriving in to Phoenix after 6 p.m. on February 3, you'll arrive at Terminal 3 as well.

United Club closure. Because of our move to Terminal 3, the United Club℠ location in Terminal 2 will close February 3. We're looking forward to bringing you a brand-new space in Terminal 3 later this year.

Message from UA today: "At United, we're all about flying the friendly skies... and providing friendly reminders whenever we can. On February 4th, we'll move from Terminal 2 to Terminal 3 at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. Because of this move, our United Club location will close. Not to worry though, a new United Club location will reopen in Terminal 3 later this year." (Bolding mine)

My Club Membership expired Jan 31, and I've been holding off renewing since PHX is my home airport & I've gotten mixed replies about when the UC at T3 would be open. It's clear it's not opening now, but not clear about a timeframe. Wonder why they couldn't get it done at the same time as the gates?

if I had to guess, it's not so much that UA is moving from T2 to T3 but PHX is moving all T2 operations to T3. Constructing a new UC is an entirely different exercise and one not driven by the airport itself.

There are two camps on this. Some say it's not reasonable to expect UA to complete the UC on time, it's not UA's fault, etc. Others point out that DL was able to open its new T3 PHX club immediately, so this is just one more example of UA underperforming.

Looks to me like the ticket counter is getting quite the upgrade from kiosks & roaming agents to actual counters and Step 1 & 2 bag tagging.

I flew in from IAH last night. Was in a hurry, so I didn't have time to look around or take photos. It was pretty quiet there at 8:30 pm.

No more OHSO!!!! Very happy for that crap place to be gone. I like Phx Beer Company's beer more and the food can't be any worse. Will be flying next Thursday so excited to see the new terminal.

Not too worried about the club being closed... I try to arrive as close to departure as possible. Just hoping United adds a couple more non-stops now that they have the new digs.

Wait! Is...is that...SUNLIGHT?!?!?! I had forgotten what that looked like at T2.

Thanks for the pics. I just planned a trip out of PHX for next month, and specifically booked an IAD layover to hit the LH Senator lounge, since I prefer not to pay for airport food whenever possible.

The food options in T2 was pathetic. The Paradise Bakery was in a neither-Panera, nor-Paradise state for years where you could not accumulate visits/use rewards from either place. Boycott that place? No problem, the Mexican place (and probably other ones) was owned by the same company. The OSHO place was on the health department's list - once I observed a waitress making the silverware sets on the walls of the stairs outside the restaurant.

The up side about T2 was when I had mishandled bags, cooperative agents in the baggage office would ask me to call as I approached T2 and they would take the bag out to the car.

The only thing I'll miss about T2 is day trips where I could park in the garage and be at the gate in 10 minutes. Hopefully the rideshare area at T3 isn't a disaster since I won't be using the garage anymore.

You always have the option to take the SkyTrain from T3 to the 44 St. Station and get your rideshare there.

Right! If you want orders Lyft. You still have take a Lyft from terminal 3. No need to take SkyTrain to 44th St station.
