I don't believe there's even an option to install DTV fold out monitors. Of all the ones I've seen at bulkhead seats have been attached to the wall in front of the pax.

757-300 Which seats in First Class???
I am on a 6 hr flight domestic flight on United's 757-300 in the front. I have a choice of either 1A or the last row (6A or 6B) by the bathrooms. Which would be a better seat? Does 1A provide more leg room by having a cutout in the bulkhead? I think 1B does but not sure of 1A (I have noticed 1B having it and not 1A on a 737-900. Strange!). And does the last row recline more?
I would appreciate any input. Thank you! |

1A and B both have a huge cutout on the 753. They are larger than any othe under seat storage in the cabin. You'll also be away from the forward economy toilet sound/smell. You'll also get a better chance of getting your meal choice. Best seats in the cabin. Its also easy to get put of 1A during flight with no seat in front of you. The only minuses IMHO are the extra time to deplane thru door 2L and overhead movie screen (if so equipped) at bad angle (not a problem if a tablet provides your entertainment, like mine does....).

I prefer row 6 where I can recline and have a feeling of privacy.

I feel like it does, and since no one is behind me, I never feel bad reclining all the way back.

With my change to Plat, my questions in these seating threads have moved from Y to F :)
Have a redeye coming up (cleared at T-96 due to the midnight bug!) and am trying to sleep on the flight. Can I get confirmation that the following is true on all of the 753s: 1A and 1B both have great cutouts. 1E and 1F do not. Row 6 has great recline despite the lavatory/galley behind. |

E&F have NO cut-out and limited legroom. I wonder why people select those seats, unless they are so fearful of missing their meal choice. Row 6, IMHO has no better recline than any other. The nice thing about row 6 is nobody pulls on your seat to extract themselves from theirs. I find the noise/chemical odor of forward coach toilet to be annoying, though (less so in 6F). Enjoy. |

If people keep calling it a bug they might eventually fix it. I like to call it the midnight feature :D

I'm a new user, apologize if this is on the wrong thread but haven't been able to find a better thread for this question.
I will be flying red-eye on a 737-900, trying to figure out which FC seat would be best to get some sleep. options include all of the seats in row 1 and row 5 and 7 other seats in the rows in between. any recommendations? does anyone know if seat 1a has a leg cutout on this plane? i'm not very tall, but still want to stretch out to sleep. |

Anyone know off-hand whether the armrests in row 21 are movable?

If someone has a 753 segment in row 21 coming up and can check, I would be very much appreciative. |
Anyone have any experience in row 7? Currently booked on the 753 LAX-EWR red-eye w/ a companion in row 8 B&C. 7 ABC are available and look like they have more legroom and no one reclining into you, but armrests are fixed. (Row 21 B&C are also available, if folks think that is better? Also, curious as to armrest issue raised in prior post...)
I'm 6'7" and just looking to get some sleep so legroom is my #1. Any thoughts are appreciated! |
Just finished flying a newly configured 757-300 on ANC-IAH. One of the most comfortable flights I've ever had in coach. More seat pitch than usual in E+. I'm 5'11" and could completely stretch my legs. Also seemed like there was extra recline. The DTV was having some issues, but I slept nearly the entire flight.
Had seat 10A, which is a normal E+ seat. Thumbs up to UA on this reconfiguration. Will now look for the 753 any chance I get. |

757 BF Config LAX-EWR
Do they offer pillows and duvets in BF like the PS birds to JFK?
|
no pillows and domestic blankets
|
I did a ORD-LAX and LAX-DEN this weekend on these old birds and they had blankets available but not pillows.
These planes are so old... Still waiting for direct TV and power. Row 1 is only good on the A/B side as there is a cutout for storage and a bit extra legroom. Quite convenient actually. |

The 757-300 you were on isn't getting DirecTV only the CO original 753s will have direcTV, the ATA hand-me-downs will be getting the streaming content stuff and those 753s are that old at all they were built between 2001 & 2003.

Ahh thanks for the info! I would prefer to be in seat 1A or 2A on an E70 over F on one of these... much more private/ comfortable seats. I guess the downside is no "meal" on E70 :D:rolleyes: This year, I have flown 737-700,-800 ,A320, A319, 757-300, all with no direct TV or power... :(. And of course the E70's as well. Hoping I get power for my flights this weekend!! |

hmm that is interesting, I'm 90% sure I was on a 737-700 as it had less F than my flight after, which I believe was a 737-800. Maybe it was an -800 and -900? The flight had no direct TV.

UA 757-300 questions
Hi,
do all 757-300s have AVOD? Do they all have winglets? What about 757-200s? Thanks |
Aircraft by aircraft details here: https://sites.google.com/site/unitedfleetsite/
|
there are multiple 757 configurations -- some international, some domestic

Thanks.

No they don't. They either have DirecTV which cuts out not long after takeoff which at that point you will have access to pre-recorded content or the ones with the overhead monitors that drop down from the overhead bins those ones will play 1 movie and a bunch of different tv shows variety programming etc. If you are in Y/C on a DirecTV 753 you will still need to pay the fee to activate the TV. If you are on the one with just the overhead monitors then no you won't have to pay.
|
Thanks guys!

That DTV system is lousy. They should have figured out a way to provide it across the Caribbean and Hawaii as it seems that's where a lot of 737 and 753 fly to anyway. CO cheaped out big time when they installed that system.
Even with just the pre-recorded content these aircraft have 10x the video programming choices that you get on the rest of the UA shorthaul fleet, so it's hardly "lousy". |
