LAS/CLE CPU Chance as Silver

Hi,

Flying LAS/CLE tomorrow on a 737-900 and there are 5 seats left in F. Almost T-24. I'm premier silver and was wondering about the odds I get my first CPU. Oh, and it's a T fare. Any feedback?

Also, do I find out if I get upgraded at the gate? Or does it happen automatically at some point?

Saturday. I would say you've a decent chance especially since I would expect the pattern ex-LAS to be heavy on Sunday night and Monday. When my wife was silver her upgrades cleared on Saturday hub to hub. You are merely going out station to hub (and low tier hub at that).

Silvers are upgraded day of departure. You might clear well before you get to the airport. It will help your cause to check in online. Plus you can then see where you stand on the upgrade list.

I wouldn't expect to get anything but the bulkhead. OTOH, on sCO metal, the bulkhead gets the meal choice.

Keep checking the upgrade list throughout the day, and you will see if you get upgraded before hand. Otherwise, get to the gate an hour ahead, and monitor the upgrade list from your wireless device and proactively go to the podium when it shows you have cleared ("Excuse me, but united.com says I cleared. My I have my new boarding pass").

Good luck.

Once you check in, you'll be able to see the waitlist so then you'll have a much better idea than anyone can give you.

I have found that, as a silver, it's been quite a mixed bag. I've been shut out when I thought I had a good shot and upgraded when I thought I was out of the running. Last year I was upgraded once. This year I am probably hovering around 15%.

This week I was 2/2 on upgrades including scoring PHL-DEN when I was 4th on the waitlist with one seat available. Two weeks ago, I ended up 14th for an ORD-PHL flight that I was upgraded on twice in the last 3 months.

How you find out depends on when you find out. On PHL-DEN, I found out I was upgraded on the United iPhone app with Passbook installed. I received an alert that said "Your seat is now 3F". A couple of times, I've checked my status on the app and saw "United First" on my boarding pass.

My guess is that you will find out at the airport. My advice is to prepare your backside to sit in coach. If you are upgraded, then celebrate your good fortune.

Thanks for the replies. I actually just got a CPU email confirmation! Didn't expect that at all.

Now see if a f/c seat will stick for you!
