Pleasant surprise boarding today when my spouse was recognized by the GA for her 15-year MileagePlus anniversary upon scanning her boarding pass.

Just claimed 1st spot in 1982. FAs on a HNL-SFO flight earlier this year brought me a decorated barf bag w/ sundry candies (including some Hawaiian Mac nut goodies) to commemorate 40th.

Thank you for 40 Years in UAL Program
I was on a United flight last night, sitting in Premium Economy. As the FA came by she mentioned to me that according to her app, I was on my 40th anniversary in the UAL program. I hadn't realized.
Note: 35 years ago, as I was about to become one of the most frequent flyers (500k BIS per year - 2 full trans-cons a week, every week, for a year and a half) I had to decide between UAL and AA as my airline. I was upset with UAL at that time, because I felt they had been dishonest in promising service between LAX and SFO every 30 minutes and then cancelling every second flight. So I chose AA. I now have about 3.6 million on AA and about 270,000 on UAL.

Congrats. I am approaching 30 years. Didn’t think I would make MM, or even that I would ever cross the oceans in J (certainly FT has had something to do with that).
So, looking back, do you think you made the right choice with regards to UA vs AA?

Received my 18 year anniversary message on mystatus the other day. I signed up when I was 13 while using the old Starbucks/T-Mobile wifi in the early 2000s!

As I mentioned, I only did that much for one and a half years (mid 1980's). So, by my estimate, if you take my lifetime miles on all airlines, and add in the reward flights (i.e. - total BIS miles actually flown) I think I am around 5 million flown miles. I think I have taken off from LAX more than 500 times (probably close to 1000).

During my 5 year anniversary month a few months ago, the GA congratulated me and/or thanked my loyalty on almost every flight (had 8 segments) after scanning my boarding pass. One time the GA didn't say anything and I was half way down the jetbridge waiting in line. The GA ran down the jetbridge, yelled "Mr. XXX", and congratulated me so loudly that everyone on the jetbridge turned around lol
Definitely feel very appreciated as a lowly Silver

Update to previous post - finally saw my 40-year notice from UA. It was a pop-up on the app, rather than on the Web site. Took a screen shot, fortunately, as it's gone now.
