How to get proof of delayed flight
I was on a flight from Vancouver to Chicago which was delayed due to cargo issues, then divert around thunderstorm and finally delayed deplaning and we needed to wait for paramedics.
How do I get proof of this delay for insurance company? |
Go to united.com's travel information and take a screenshot of the flight status... Perhaps you can also use flightaware.com. Plug in the flight number and see what you get in terms of scheduled vs. actual departure/arrival.

Print the flight status page from United for the flight?
Or from flightstats or similiar site? (going back more than a few days will require an account) |

I just discovered this the other day:
See: http://www.united.com/CMS/en-US/trav...ellations.aspx under Notification of delays and cancellations Verification letters Upon request, we can provide a statement of proof that a United flight was delayed or canceled. You may email your request to [email protected]. Be sure to include the names of all customers in your party, confirmation number, flight numbers and dates of travel, phone contact and the email address or mailing address where you would like it sent. Please allow 5-10 business days for processing. *** Once I was delayed due to weather at Narita for 3 days - upon arrival at Taipei, the gate agents were handing them out. In Taiwan, you need the letter to be properly excused from work or school. The rail system does that too. |

How to get proof of delayed flight
Flightstats can get you the info. instantly. Not sure how far back it let's you go without an account but you can get a free account and look it up that way.
On the other hand, insurance may not accept that, and may require something more official, do the verification letter may be better. |

Did the letter jive with what was said at your gate, what was said on board your flight and what actually happened to your flight?
