UA GPU Progress Indicator...Broken?
Hi FT,
I've seen some posts allude to the GPU bar on UA's "My Account" page, but nothing that specifically addresses the fact that the bar doesn't appear to match my actual GPU cert. earning status. According to UA's policy for earning GPUs: "Premier® members will earn six Global Premier Upgrades when they reach 100,000 Premier qualifying miles (PQM) or 120 Premier qualifying segments (PQS), plus two more for each 50,000 PQM or 60 PQS earned thereafter." My account looks like this currently, where I've flown 12,469 above 1K, which is nowhere near 50% of the way to more GPUs (although it's nearly 50% towards RPU certs.): http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/membe...screenshot.png So, has the policy changed (I highly doubt that)? Is the graphic mislabeled? Thanks kindly! |

Like many things on the website (and with CO's technology for that matter), it can't be trusted. |
It's the graphic. It should be telling you your progress towards next GPU level (150k) which it's obviously not.

Are we sure? The graphic would be accurate if it were telling you progress towards next RPU. Maybe they're supposed to toggle the labeling between thresholds (e.g., hit 100K, display progress towards next RPUs; hit 125K, display progress towards next GPUs, and so forth).

Wasn't UA's website affectionately called .bomb for a reason?

.bomb was much more reliable than this mess we have today.

That's a personal opinion, which many would disagree with. |

Back on topic (I have mixed feelings on the .bomb argument), yes it tracks RPUs not GPUs, no, it does not reset at 125k, or even 150k. It just sits at full. Pretty dumb meter if you ask me...

Seriously? That is indeed dumb. And another programming gem from CO IT. I'm not at 125K yet, so I haven't seen it on my account yet, but if that's what it's doing, why do they even bother with the graph after hitting 100K? |
"Global Premier Upgrade Progress"
So, what is this.."Global Premier Upgrade Progress"? I see it and a blue thermometer in the middle of my milage plus page. I've already crossed over the 100,000 mile market for this year and the darn thing still shows 50%. I talked with United and they couldn't explain it to me...well at least a guy in Manila couldn't. I'm sure someone here can.
Also, any tips on keeping the seats you self assign when you go on line. This is more than a little frustrating that once I self select seats, poof, I go back to the site and they are gone... I've flown nearly 3mm miles and more than a little frustrated with United these days and have started to fly DL. |

Reviving the thread.
I was wondering; wether the progress indicator is showing you your progress to the next premier level, or next RPU/GPU certs, is it using PQMs to indicate this? or PQS? or do you think UA is using it's own formula to calculate both PQMs and PQS and then giving you it's own calculated % level? |
In my experience, it is showing the greater of the two percentages.

Mine hit 100% at 125K miles awhile back and is just stuck there, just like last year. I mentioned it to GS CS, but no one cared.
Just think of it as a reminder of how broken the rest of PMCO's systems are. Timothy |
